Thanks! Very detailed explanation. I've heard they can be quite expensive on eBay, but occasionally appear at a cheap price on e.g. craigslist by someone who doesn't really know its value.

Is this something that needs to be set up in one place or can you easily stow it away it between uses?

The processer itself is quite compact: 21½" width, 19" depth and 12" height (closed). Using a 12V pump and a basin the processor is not dependent on water supply or drains (I drain it into a 25 litre plastic container). I have made a roller table for it, so that I can wheel it into place when I will use it, and stow it away when it is not in use. Of course it still takes up some space, but it does not have to be stored or used in a darkroom or wetroom.

I got my processor quite cheap (together with a Durst Laborator L1200 with three heads) when I cleared out the darkroom of a local pro who has gone digital. Times are good for those who are still interested in shooting film

The manual can be found here: ATL_1000_1500_manual.pdf

On a similar note, I got an email a few months back from Freestyle about this Jobo kit, I'm assuming that it's a new model??

Yes, it is a new and "cheaper" model in the CPP/CPE line. But those are manual models without automation. The ATL series models can handle the whole processing from beginning to end at the push of a button. I don't think there is a new ATL model.
There is an ATL-1500 on eBay right now: Jobo ATL 1500 Autolab fully automatic compact processor COMPLETE SYSTEM Warranty | eBay
As you can see they are quite costly still.

Inauguration: the fair wheel

A bit on the same theme as my last post but the little Mju did a great job in metering this sun covered scenes with 400iso fuji Superia film.

Great post for us film shooters. Many t(h)anks!

How come that a water temp regulation is needed when the Jobo heats up the mix to the needed 38°C?

The drum with the film rotates and is slightly immersed in a bath that maintains the correct temperature. This bath also heats the chemicals (in separate containers that stand partly immersed in the internal bath).

But water for pre-soak, rinsing between chemical stages and final rinse/wash is taken from an external source. This can either be mains water from a temperature regulated supply (1-6 bar) and should ideally be either 24.0°C for B/W or 38.0°C for colour processing; or water supplied via a 12V pump from a basin containing water at the correct temperature. If the water supply is either too hot or too cold, this will show up as colours shifts with colour films and as too thin or too dense negatives in B/W processing.

Plumbing with a termostate controlled supply will add to the cost of the whole setup. Therefore a basin with 12V pump is a much easier solution.

I'm not a fan of the stormy, soggy weather here in Seattle currently so here are a couple I dug out from springtime.

Yeah same up here, 28 out of 31 days in October had rain. Only shot one roll of 120 the entire month!

October was one of the dryest in age ages here in Western Europe. Summer extends into November with a lot of sun on the yellow brown leaves. It can differ a lot on the globe.
