Cactus in bloom in August - Portra 160VC

I took my MZ-S for a spin loaded with Kodak Portra 160VC. The lens used was the D FA 100mm f/2.8.

I cropped this shot in Photoshop to get a better composition. I couldn't get close enough in the field due to my clumsy tripod. Kodak Portra 160VC, MZ-S, D FA 100mm f/2.8 Macro.

Thank you. It's been years since I've shot film, but I've sure been tempted to pull it out lately and see what I can do.

I don't know what it is about the first one here, but it really endears itself to me..
The second is simply a great portrait. What great detail and contrast.

Here are a few photos with my MX. I used tri-x film. The negatives are "scanned" using a K20D and a DA35 macro and some kind of cardboard arrangement and a desktop lamp. Hardly ideal but it sort of works for small sizes. The tri-x film curls up from the heat from the bulb so I needed to be fast. Luckily the film straightened back out again when cooled.
