This was shot using a cheap East German SLR called an Exa 1c with a Helios 44-2. I home developed it in caffenol and I screwed up the spooling process, further distressing the whole look of the thing. Some digital photographers spend time and money on filters to achieve this kind of effect!

It's been cold and drab here lately, as per usual, but there've been a number of days uncharacteristically warm and lovely, even with a chill in the air and I tried to get out and shoot a bit last week, grabbing some warm tones from the cool and dark normal right now.

Does the 1c have the same odd shutter design as the 1a and 1b, where the mirror itself acts as the first curtain?

I've had my eye on the M42-mount version of the Exa for a while as it's the cheapest, most common camera with a wast-level viewfinder. So far I haven't managed to get one. The 1/175s max shutter speed would be annoying but I want it for street photography shooting high ISO and stopped down so i think it would be enough.

Really beautiful colours there in the first two. You did a great job of capturing some fantastic light.

Still that way [corrected from last night when I wrote from my very faulty memory -- I hadn't actually used the thing in a while, my apologies]. It does still have a waist-level viewfinder, though, which is very weird. The camera has a very sleek, black, 1980's-looking design, and then it has that.

Mine was attached to the Tessar lens I bought; might want to look for one that way.

These aren't Pentax shots, but I figured I'd share them anyway. Minolta X-700, Minolta 58mm f/1.4, 35mm f/2.8, and Vivitar 24mm f/2.

Kodak Portra 800

Lomo 400 @320 ISO

Don't worry, you're far from being the only person here shooting film on non-Pentax cameras. I also use Minolta, Ricoh, Yashica and Canon. This thread is not brand-limited.
