You should downsize your images before posting.

Sorry, I thought the forum downsize them automatically. How many pixels is it ok to post?

I usually downsize to around 800 to 900 pixels tall, depending on aspect ratio.
For 35mm images I use 800x1200, for 6x6 I use 900x900, etc.

The forum page gets all messed up if you post images wider than 1920.

You can set max. display width & height in personal forum preferences, but your browser still has to fetch the whole thing.

And the quality of the resize is often poor depending on browser and OS. Best to simply post a properly-sized image in the first place.

I was not able to find it the last time I looked, but there used to be a help page that strongly suggested about 1200px wide, maximum. Think in terms of common laptop screen resolutions. The business-class Lenovo I am typing this on has a 14" screen with 1366x768 resolution. With allowance for forum window dressing, there is not much more room for large images. As mentioned above, a user may set viewer preference to auto-reduce big photos. Similarly, some forum skins do so automagically. Ditto for some browsers. Both are often unsatisfactory.

Are they still too large? I always browse and write in the forums with an iPad, and have no problem with images. I'll try to reduce them further. I don't know which resolution others are using, but I see them of the same size as everyone else's.

Your last two are 3,067px × 2,090px. I believe that significantly more than your iPad's native resolution. Most photos intended for display on the Web should be reduced in size (pixel dimensions) to fit the intended display size and to avoid being a burden on site bandwidth or database storage due to large file size (Megabytes). Your bottom image is 1.2 Mbyte.

Below is the same photo edited to 1000x681px:

Its file size is 301 Kbytes

Thanks, yeah the thing is I don't use a computer, I just use a link from Flickr, I'll use a different size for them, I think I'm using large. And I don't see a difference in size from what other post, and don't know how to find out the resolution of photos from other posts.

Hi there, if you are using flickr, from the photostream view, and after selecting the BBcode share link, the available size of the image to be shared should be visible. I typically use the medium 800 pix, or large 1024 pix size.
