Kodachrome & SilverFast :: LaserSoft Imaging

I agree with this quite a bit. Silverfast has always helped to do a good job with my grandfather's collection of various K slides over the many years. Here's one from the mid-50s I posted up recently. Love going through these.

The main downsides of rangefinders I've found:

It's not likely that a person you can the camera to can accurately focus a picture of you and your wife when they offer to take a picture for you!

It's not easy to catch a toddler in focus as she runs around!

They're my favorite travel cameras. Quiet, subtle, and sublime to shoot. I'm waiting, in vain most likely, for a digital Olympus XA. 35mm or aps-c, pocket sized, with a good optical finder and very good lens. Or even a remake of my Olympus 35RD. The x100t is close, but that money buys a LOT of film.

Ricoh GR in 35mm mode with a tiny hot-shoe mounted VF. Easy. Dial in hyperfocal and snap focus and you can hardly miss.

(Though I'll grant you - I can hear the protestations coming - I know I know - 28mm just is toooooo wide. A true digital XA would be a thing of beauty. But the Ricoh is close.)

(Also, the X100 series is far from pocketable.)

Ugh. It's all out of focus.

Just kidding, nice and impressionistic. Isn't that a 67 lens?

Yup. I don't own any dedicated 645 glass, just my 67 lenses with adapter.
