The simple offer and demand problem : there is no substitute for those lenses in the Pentax world.

I know, but I can't see why people buy them. I'm not gonna spend that kind of memory on something I use for playing and non essential personal work. I'd rather spend that on medium format lenses, you can get about 4 for what each of those 35mm lenses cost.

Well, now that I think about it, they're still expensive because they can be used in digital cameras as well. Is just that I would only use them for film.

At the end of the day, if you spend the money, it's still gone. And arguably, medium format film is (was, and only past tense because of the price plummets due to digital) for professionals. Many of the $500-$1,500 medium format kits out there were over $10,000 new. I have the 31 and 77 and they're fantastic lenses. Some of the best pictures I have of my children were exposed through those lenses. They work on manual and AF film and digital bodies. And now that Pentax has a full frame camera, try using those expensive DA* lenses on that body.

I know those MF kits were very expensive back then, I couldn't afford them, now I can. And I can use those lenses on my 645D as well, that I could afford many years after release. And that's what make those lenses even more expensive, they haven't drop in price. But yeah, it must be because you can still use them on digital cameras, and they're AF.
I supposed they're pretty good lenses, but I just can't invest that kind of money on a format(35mm) that only use for snapshots, and not main personal or commercial work. I'm not knocking on the lenses or people that can afford them and buy them. Just perplexed they haven't drop in price that much, like much of the film gear. I bought a complete kit of RZ67 Pro II and a Mamiya 645 Pro TL, for the price of the 77mm each. I bought a Pentax 645D with 3 FA lenses(45, 75 and 200mm) for the price of both the 31 and 77mm limited lenses.

I can see how you'd have that perspective with medium format being your primary format. I can see that as I start to peel back the layers on medium format film. I don't see myself getting into MF digital, but I'm really just now resurrecting my film stuff.

A shot from the last roll of my Kono Kolorit 125T (Expired Kodak Tungsten 125T movie stock re-spooled in Germany and rated at 100ISO. Film works best with no tungsten daylight 85B filter)

Is that a current image after your recent snow falls?

Are those jellybeans recent additions? It's been a few years since I spent much time in that part of Vancouver.

I'm right there with you. I'm looking at replacing my K-30 at some point this year, and am very much stuck between the K-1 and a 645D. I could probably do everything I want with the 15-30, 77, 100 Macro, and either the 70-200 with the 1.4x TC or the 150-450. But the 645D with the A 35, 75LS, 120 Macro, and 300mm with TC's would do the job too, and probably for less (yeah, new vs used, but the money spends the same). Medium format film appeals to me more than 35mm as well and 645 bodies are dirt cheap.

Yep the shot was taken on Feb 11th, all the snow is gone now after a few days of heavy rain. (Back to normal for here)

Yep an art project, probably about 3 years ago.

Thanks Phil.
