I'm not certain when the 120 rolls are going to be ready for sale. They've been a bit behind schedule for production.
Is this re-cut motion picture stock?

As far as I know it's Kodak Vision3 with the remjet removed, similar to their 35mm film.

Yes it is, but since it's 120, it needs to be cut from the entire sheets of film, before being cut down to 35mm since it's larger. I'm wondering how expensive will it be. Doesn't sound cheap.

But it's less of a hassle, since you can develop it everywhere. We used to made Vision 35mm loads from left over rolls when I was in film school, but had to develop them on a motion film lab. With the remjet removed you can do it everywhere.

Yeah, that's my understanding as well. I also assume that's the reason they've been having more trouble getting it to market than they did for the 35mm, since they have to do more pre-processing — cutting it to size, adding the backing paper, &c. — on it.

Have I mentioned lately that I love my lab? Well, I love my lab.

They got in some alpha rolls of Cinestill's 120 format 800T, and gave me one to try out. (With the promise that I report back to them about any issues I had with it. I believe they received between 50 to 100 rolls, so I'm not that special amongst their clients. )

I've shot the 35mm before and I can't say that I was enamoured of it. Results on 120 were much more pleasant, though I had some unfortunate electrostatic discharge visible to varying degrees on all frames. But that's why it's a pre-retail alpha.

Pentax 6x7.
Super-Multi-Coated Takumar/6x7 105mm f2.4.
Cinestill 800T alpha.
Excellent results, will have to try a roll as well. Hopefully the ISO 50 daylight film will make it to 120 as well.

Phil.

This is from the roll of film that was in my ZX-5N before it died. I got 24 frames (of 36) done then the mirror motor gear died

It's always sad to read of the demise of another camera

Will you be sending it to Eric to get the gear replaced?

I sometimes wonder how much Pentax saved on these cameras by using plastic gears instead of either better quality plastic or metal. It seems like a real penny-pinching move. My broken MZ-5N is still waiting for me to replace the gear.

These are a few frames on my new-to-me fully-CLA'd Pentax MX, with a Pentax-M 50/1.4 I already had (it came with a SMC 28/3.5, which covers my wide angle needs on that mount).

And one with the 28/3.5 it came with (with a minor perspective correction in Adobe Camera Raw when I opened the scanned DNG).

Eric declined to repair my ZX.

Look at this thread, I found a source for brass gears.

Good luck.

MZ-3

I just love my two MZ-3 cameras! But my problem is they both have cracked mirror return gears! :-( (Eric seems to avoid these newer cameras...)
I now shoot with the MZ-S...with a metal mirror return gear!

BTW, this is a photo sharing thread and here my ME Super SE I bought new back in the days, and I think it will out live me!

I just ordered a really clean Z-1p from Japan. Hopefully it will last.
I have a line on getting my ZX-5N repaired, but the cost is significant considering what the camera is worth. I'm still debating whether or not to repair it.
Unfortunately any DIY repairs are out of the question for me.

Here's another from the same roll.
