Thanks Jimfear. I think that was a 1/s shot @ f/22 with an ND9 filter.

Agfa APX400

Finally I got to develop my own negatives.
My first ever roll Agfa APX400 in HC-110 dilution H (16ml concentrate for 1L).
Very happy with the results.
Next Fomapan 100 - 120 - in Rodinal

Cheers,

Luc

A classic bicycle shot this last one...

I tried out my '37 Bessa with anastigmat Skopar, the results again are more vintage than I hope. So far, I think the '30s Voigtlanders with shorter focal lengths (i.e. 6x6 format) are better than the 6x9's. Post war, the 6x9's are also excellent. But then, maybe it's just been my samples.

Oh, this is film, so need the IDs: Ilford HP5+, Fomadon Excel (Xtol) straight

Thanks Steve, Thanks Pepijn,

A side note question, what dilution/time do you use for Rodinal, the 1:50 or the 1:100?

ANother shot from the same roll

Cheers,

Luc

Another nice one!
I use mostly 1:100 for 60 minutes with Rollei Retro 100 and for 45 minutes with Neopan 400 and Rollei Retro 400S, those are stand (30 seconds gentle agtation at the start and one inversion half way). Efke 25 in do in 1:100 in 10 minutes with one inversion per 30 seconds.

Thanks. The Bessa looks sharp enough but very flare prone and low contrast.

My new Zeiss Ikon Ikomat 520 6x4.5 folder, with a 7cm Tessar, from 1933. First roll through, Ilford Delta 100 developed in Fomadon Excel (Xtol), Epson 4490.

I'm enjoying these vintage camera photos. I also have a Kodak Six-16 folder that was my grandmothers, that I hope to get up and running soonish. I think it was made 1932-34, and has a 120mm f6.3 anastigmat lens Getting film to fit may be tricky.

I'l finally post a couple of photos from the 9 or so rolls that I recently shot on holiday. Initially I was very disappointed with the results overall, but while there are no masterpieces, I think I was just in a strange mood when first viewing =\

1) Is that with full speed or with 1 stop slower i.e. 100>50 or 400>200?
2)Did you try adding some Borax - it is supposed to reduce slightly grain and fog?

There is a book on Stand development and Rodinal, It might be quite interesting.

Cheers,

Luc

I shoot full speed, and I haven't tried Borax. I doubt the Borax would make much difference with stand development since agitation is what causes most grain in Rodinal. Anyway, since I shoot mostly medium format grain is not much of an issue for me.
I have been thinking of getting some Diafine again I really liked the effect i got with Rollei Retro 100 (and I still have about 60 rolls of that stuff in 35mm ) and the results are very easy to scan. The results I have been getting from Rollei Retro 80s and 400s in Rodinal tend to be overly contrasty so I would like to give them a try in Diafine as well.

Jason, I know exactly how you feel re first view of some shots. I go through photos when I get them back and cull out the ones I don't like. Then I go back a day or two later and wonder why I discarded certain shots as there's nothing wrong with them. I've saved some real gems from the ash heap by being patient. Nice shots, BTW - pretty remarkable to me how "ancient" the DC-3 cockpit looks.

Best,
Kevin

Thanks Kevin.
Indeed, the feeling is something I have almost gotten used to - but strangely in this case the depth of negative feeling was very strong Anyway, here's some more DC-3. The old beast may have looked ancient in the cockpit, but it flew as smooth as any modern plane, if not better.

Jason, thank you for the DC-3 - I'd love some of the passenger area and outside, if you have any. My first flight was on one, and even later on each time I flew on one it was totally exciting... the angle of the plane when on the ground, then the tail lifting off...

Jason, nothing wrong with those DC-3 shots . Glad you had a nice vacation. Sounds like you found plenty to shoot while you were away. Looking forward to more New Zealand shots.

Best,
Kevin
