Steve, I'll second that and thanks for posting about your experiences with the Chamonix. I'm really interested in this camera and also in the V700 so I'm very appreciative of any info you're willing to share. Also appreciate the added anecdote about chopping the dolls head off on the first exposure <g>. I still consider myself a photography noob (particularly on film) and its heartening to know other more experienced shooters can drop the ball from time to time. Sometimes the high quality of work that gets posted in this forum is a little daunting. Intellectually, I know that everybody is putting their best foot forward when they post and that there are probably a few dogs on the roll that never see the light of day on the forum, but seeing so many great images in one place makes me forget that fact.

Glad you're enjoying the new camera and putting it to use. Looking forward to more from you and the Chamonix.

I'm enjoying these vintage camera photos. I also have a Kodak Six-16 folder that was my grandmothers, that I hope to get up and running soonish. I think it was made 1932-34, and has a 120mm f6.3 anastigmat lens Getting film to fit may be tricky.

Unfortunately 616 film is discontinued, but you can wedge something onto a roll of 120 film to get it to work... there are some instructions on the web for this. Also, someone on ebay sells a 35mm to 616 'adapter' - might be interesting to try.

There is an outfit that still sells 616, though no longer directly to customers, and at~$20 a pop, ouch!

Steve, excellent! I like the idea of using a large fmt with a 120 pack, and you got pretty good results, and not just for a first attempt.

One of my regrets: the local camera store had a nice plate (Zeiss) camera with a 120 pack and a zeiss Tessar... asked $300 or so... and by the time I was interested he'd already sold it. Stayed there for more than a couple of years, it did...

A couple of examples of the (failed) competition to Adaptall - The Vivitar/Soligor T4 and Vivitar TX mounts. The T4 gives you a basic screw mount, or Nikon non Ai, or several others. I haven't found a K T4, though these may exist. Vivitar and Soligor both sold them, seems Tokina made them. The TX was Vivitar only, and provided greater camera coupling - so I have a Pentax ES and a Nikon Ai mount in TX.

Quoting a quote; hats off to Nesster - I figured for shore someone would say something about Tuco's "foggy fir" (holy alliteration, batman). This is exactly the kind of shot I was thinking of when I wrote to Stevebrot about how high the bar is set around here. Oftentimes I refrain from posting, just because I think I'd be stating (or re-stating) the obvious. That being said, everyone deserves a warm fuzzy once in awhile, and Tuco more often than most.

Nesster, really nice 3D effect on these two shots, the soccer players particularly.

Great shots there. I love shooting with Tmax 3200 and Delta 3200 but I don't get much opportunity these days. Microphen is made for this sort of work.

No worries. Practice, post your stuff here, and get your chops up for LFPhoto . They'll still be there and so will we. All kidding aside, the supportiveness (is that a word?) of the Pentax forums and particularly the participants in this thread have been truly great.

Well, we all know it's not the camera, it's not the lens, and now we can all be pretty sure it's not the film...it's the photographer.

Javier was kind enough to send me a couple of rolls of his 99 cent wonder film to see what I could do with it here in Connecticut. All I can say is, my stuff doesn't look like his. In my description of the album on Picasa I boiled it down to this: East Hartford isn't East L.A. (and I'm not Javier) .
