Very nice shot! Interestingly, I was just told in another thread that high ISO film guys could care less about IQ and may as well shoot through a tin can. However, I don't think a tin can would be able to hang with your k 50mm f1.2 until the can was stopped down to f8.

Fittingly mehanikaloptikal posted some high ISO pictures above, nice ones also. I just finished a high ISO experiment I had been thinking about for a while.

Shooting Tri-x at 6400 and stand developing it in Rodinal. I was really surprised by the results! I was expecting grain the size of a smaller house and no grey scale at all.

Not the right developer choice for pushing, but it was only a little more than a 1 stop push and I really like Pyrocat. Using it as a 2 bath developer gives some pretty awesome edge effects(easy to see around the leaves on the arch photo), and I have never seen sharper negatives, partly because of the film/developer and in no small part because of that ridiculously sharp 43mm. Seriously amazing lens!

Aah, that might be. I'm a low ISO film guy usually, but even I realised that shooting ISO 100 film at an event like that is less than ideal. So I had to think of something.

That's also why I like to use Pyrocat as a true two bath developer. It can create negatives that are a bit flat, but a simple s-curve brings it all back. You can capture huge amounts of dynamic range, and best of all you can develop different speed and brands of film at the same time, in the same tank! It also works really well for roll film where you can't normally tailor development to each individual shot.

Below is an example I shot recently. It was very dark in this garage, and the full sun was blasting through these windows. Just changing the levels in PS shows that all the dark stuff was captured and even the stuff outside the window in full sun is still there.







You can see the freaking details in the lights on the ceiling! My scanner only outputs 8 bit files too!

Thanks, but Sandy King really deserves all the credit for cooking up Pyrocat and freely making the list of ingredients available to everyone.

I'm new to B&W(less than a year of developing it) and I'm finding that all the options and techniques for development are really fantastic. I've yet to try Rodinal, but from what I hear it's pretty similar to Pyrocat it accutance. I'd like to give it a shot some time, but like you I'm trying to master only two for the time being.
