True, but that wouldn't have any effect on what's in the file. I was just saying that even with only 255 levels there is a lot left in the file. A 16 or 14 bit file would likely have even finer gradations and show that there is a lot of range on the film; true with any film/developer.

Also, if it wasn't clear, that was a single image. I only moved the gray level slider from near black, 1.00, and then near white and took a snapshot at each setting. Not 3 different scans.

Wahkeena Falls

Caltar II-N 90/6.8, Ektar 100 (120 6x7)

From the first roll of 120 color film I tried with the Chamonix view camera. This was my first field outing and I am not very happy with the composition here. I should have moved a little further back and shifted a little to the left. There was also the issue of it starting to rain and me without an umbrella or a cover for the camera. Making haste is not in one's best interest with this sort of tool.

I think that you have a winner with this camera. A little bit of getting used to is probably all it takes for getting some stunning photos.
Of course I would probably try some B&W landscape with a "view" next

That is pretty amazing! I'd be fibbing if I said I wasn't jealous. I think the tallest lookout we have here in Indiana is about 100ft

Thanks... yeah, I seem to have accumulated a few, but I do use each one. And I'm especially taken with old folders... here's most of them, or at least most of the 120 size ones.

The last shot I think is the foundation of a fire observation tower, or perhaps some sort of winch set up - it's next to an old quarry.

Jussi, thanks for the comment on my photo, and I do love your collection of folders. The Dolly looks awesome. Soon I will be playing with my late Grandmothers Kodak six-16 folder - just last week I got the optics cleaned and some parts restored, I just need to pick it up from the shop.

My earlier picture is of a Banksia flower, a type of native Australian small tree/bush. They are quite unique, especially the flowers. Think of something a little bit like a Protea.

I also need to mention that the other shots in this thread recently have been excellent. I look forward to reading through in the mornings. I still need to work on my own contributions though!
