i thought you could do c41 at home, you just need a darkroom.
Sure you can. Most people do b & w at home. Its still way more cost effective to have my local lab do my c41 stuff, especially since I can't get b & w done locally anymore. People usually don't do the c41 type b&w film to do it at home though because the c41 chemicals typically cost more than b&w and the temperature is more tricky on color.

Well, just got my Epson V500 scanner so the learning curve may be steep. Still the chance to digitize hundreds of negatives is way cool.
Here's one of my first film scans (taken about 12 years ago in Guatemala with a Minolta X700 and Tri-X 400).

I recently purchased another ME. Here are a few from the first roll through it.

Very nice Swift1. There's something about bokeh on film that I don't think digital can match and those pictures prove it.

Thanks Votesh, I agree with you about film bokeh. This thread proves that there are a lot of things about film that digital can't match. ( Much as I love my K10D)

Testing...testing 1,2,3 ... oh sorry been listening to the Bare Naked Ladies for too long.
Thanks for looking...
Taken with my Mamiya C33, 80mm lens and with Tri-X 400 about 12 years ago. Shots from Guatemala and Honduruas.
My grandfather (at the end) has since passed away. It was my first and only portrait of him because he hated to be photographed. Weird thing that the film scanner arrived (this week) on the anniversary of his death and I just thought I would honor him.

It could just be the difference between a full frame "sensor" vs what we're used to with cropped digitals. The slight grain/texture can give it something special though, and I like the look too. Is that what you mean?

Where abouts are you in Indiana Votesh? I'm in Indy, but am originally from the Lafayette area and go back to visit family and friends quite often.

Here is another one from the archives. I originally did the scan as part of a test for the Epson V700 on 35mm, but figured that the image had sufficient interest to share it here.

Vernal Fall, Yosemite National Park

TMax 100, Edwal FG-7 1:15, Tamron 28/2.5 (02B), Ricoh XR7

This is the photo as scanned on the Epson. The interesting thing is that the film sat in a drawer for at least a decade before I processed it this last December. Let's hear it for the latent image

Jools, are you happy with the V500? I'm looking to buy one soon. I'd love a V700 or a Coolscan V but I just can't afford it.

I still intend to wet print my best shots but using a scanner to preview my film will better than making a contact print of my film like I do now. There will also be times when I want to publish a shot online (in this thread for example).
