Octav, excellent atmosphere, I love that first one.
Jason, you are going to force me to give Ektar another try - I have some in the P645 now.
Douglas, thanks for the samples of this film, I don't think it is available in the US but looks like it is a worthy competitor in the C31 b&w category.

Thank you, MeFirstO. Mai ales ca vorbim pe aceeasi limba
The fog is omnipresent in China (at least on the East side). But so much more than normal on that day.

Oh, thank you Jussi. It means a lot coming from you.

Therefore I feel encouraged to post more. Hope you all don't mind my attempt of photograpy.

I already own the C.R.I.S. and use it on my Ricoh Singlex and would use it on my Yashica Lynx 5000 if the meter worked. Like I said, if you like the meter, it may be a good investment. Another option is to buy Jon Goodman's 3-dot adapter (LINK) and use hearing aid batteries. They don't last very long, but are also very inexpensive.

The used Sekonic will likely take mercury batteries. Ditto for a used non-SBC Gossen. Like Jussi, I have seen the occasional low-end meter go for very little money on craigslist.org or eBay and I am in serious envy of him getting his Gossen for a fraction of what I paid for mine. If you don't have time to scour Web, your local camera repair place is a good resource. They often sell used equipment of all kinds. KEH and the used departments at Adorama and B&H are also good sources, but you will pay market price.

But...before you do any of these things, you might want to test the meter with a 1.5 battery and see how it works. It might have a bridge circuit and not be voltage sensitive.

Steve

I tried it with a 357 eveready, and it seems to be ok, maybe reading a tiny bit more light than is there, but that can be compensated.

Here is a shot I took with my K110 in manual mode, using the Kalimar meters settings.
I won't post the pic, but just a link, since this isn't shot with film http://img20.imageshack.us/img20/1191/imgp0762w.jpg

Douglas, Love the look you got from the neopan. I just finished my last roll of XP-2 and now is as good a time as any to use the fuji.

By the way, your girls are growing fast and looking prettier and prettier as well...Have that bat ready!

Very nice capture, mr. Javier, sir.
A fine example of street photography. I wish I could get my hand on your "cheap" film.
I love the color rendering.
Do you expose the film at it's rated ISO?

So far, I experienced such ugly color shifts with cheap Kodak and Fuji. Skin is turning dark red or yellow in the underexposed areas, and both have the tendency to cast an overall green tint.
Even Ektar is turning blue-ish. But at least the grain is fine.

That's why I just ordered 50 USD worth of Tmax and Reala.

Octav

P.S. Bear with me, please. I just had a glimpse of the way of thinking with film, so far.
But I love it!

Jussi, I have been enjoying your 645 shots from this series lately, but I think this latest one is the best IMO. Nice to here you are going to give Ektar another try I would like to see how it goes on 120 - When I eventually get a MF camera I'll look forward to shooting it on that.

I have been meaning to comment on Octav and Douglas' shots, very nice.
I would like to try some of that Neopan C-41, that's the first I had heard of it. Looks nice.
...Too many nice photos on this page, too little time to reply!

The other week I went to a local hiphop concert, decided I would simply take my MX and try shooting Tri-X and neopan 400 at 1600iso. It was great fun but I was really unsure what the results would be like. Thankfully there were some shots that I liked:

Pentax MX, Tri-X @1600iso, M50 f/1.4

Pentax MX, Neopan400 @1600iso, M50 f/1.4

Wish I hadn't chopped the end of the guitar off

You get some nice 3-d there...

Here's the easy trick: copy the "copy and paste this html" that shows up under your photo when you look at all sizes.
Paste it to oilu, then copy from there to post here. Presto!

Great shots! The background blur is so smooth in the first.
I will look for a 135/2,8.
