Ferrania 100, ZX-L, DA 16-45

I've finally figured out what's inconsistent about the ZX-L (I'm slow): it tends to over expose, or bias to shadows. Accordingly I get more gritty or blown out color than with other Pentax film cameras. For this 'print' I had to curve down the main scene quite a bit, and then go open the shadow back up, and desaturate the Ferrania a click or so. By the looks of it the DA 16-45 was at around 20mm or so.

Great picture, but what's the black corner on the upper left?

Thanks. The black corner is where the 16-45 starts to vignette when wider than about 21mm

I've found this to be true with the ZX-M. I mostly shoot on manual with a handheld meter. The in-viewfinder meter fairly consistently tells me I'm underexposing. The few times I've thrown it on Av or P I've ended up with some dense negatives.

I sure did. I sold my FA* 85mm because it was just too large for my kit, which I'm trying to downsize. I got the Leica R 90/2 to replace it. I am slightly disappointed with it on digital, but so far on film it might replace the 31mm Ltd as my favorite lens. It compares favorably to the FA* 85mm on film too, in my opinion.

Pentax 50s really are great. if nothing else a Leica would offer something different, albeit at a much higher price thana Pentax 50/2.

So you got a Leica? That's nice. I'm thinking of getting a Leica too, probably start from a 50/2 ... But our Pentax 50s are already very good ...

Sound's pretty cool. I'm not a Leica fan, as a matter of fact, I don't like Leica stuff, not just because their prices, but their looks and the handling. I much prefer Pentax ones. I guess it's because I'm used to and addict to Pentax

Just finished another roll of Reala with LX and M50/1.4. Can't see the results until Tuesday night ...

A rangefinder or a Leica SLR or just a Leica R lens? If a rangefinder, I would get a Voigtlander over a Leica unless you are anxious to spend a lot of money. If you want to go real cheap, get a Zorki or a Fed

I finally got around to developing a roll of Arista Premium I shot about a month ago.

Here are a few, all shot with my K1000SE and M50/1.7 or M100/2.8.

I like Pentax lenses too, but I was leaving the FA* 85 at home too often because of its size, and pretty much out of nowhere, I decided I would sell it and try out the Leica. I'm glad now that I did. The Leica is pretty heavy, but also compact. The build and handling are great, as good as I've ever used, and it has a built-in hood that keeps it compact. It is essentially just what I was looking for in a short tele, wide aperture lens.
