Hi Folks.
I have not been shooting much of late, but when I have been shooting, my weapon of choice has been my Canon AE-1 with a single lens. The FD28. I just got some rolls back from CVS...These are from a street walk in the jewelry district in DT LA with UltraMax 400

The Mennonites where out in force. These folks have to be some of the nicest most docile people in the world.

Here is one doing her thing. Passing out tracts and cd's with their music

A shame that lots of it ended up in the trash...a true shame..

Thank you. I am not familiar with that cafe, but if you can direct me to it, I would be intrigued to try

The sunset strip is not far. I have been thinking about doing that side of town for some time. I will look it up.

I bought a Miranda D / Miranda Soligor 5cm f/1.9 (intended as birthday present for brother in law, though I'm having second thoughts about that ) at the camera show this weekend... and needing film to test it out, I bought something called Kodak ColorPlus 200. The Miranda is from 1960/61.

I then headed out to an abandoned mental hospital, first built in the Victorian era...

And took some camera photos:

Nikon FE2 + Micro-Nikkor 55mm f/2.8 + Fuji 160 NPS

Great colors: I love Fuji 160...

Here two other from the same not nice Provia roll I got back today; Spotmatic F, Super Takumar 50:1.4 I type.

The first one should be wide open, possibly the second one too, but I don't remember for sure.

More UltraMax 400 Street shots with the FD28 on the AE-1...Going for more of a candid style.

Javier, you're having better luck than I with that FD28. Really love the shot of the guy in the hat. I bought an FD28 for my AE1 after I had had the camera for awhile and am having a hard time finding a groove with that focal length, not just with the Canon, but my Pentax gear as well. Maybe I just need to shoot it more. (Loving the Ultramax 400 <g>).

A quiet Sunday in Hartford last July 11 (2010) Canon AE-1, FD28 f2.8, PlusX

Tried to get "arty" with this one with varying degrees of success...

Upshot is that I never seem to feel comfortable in this focal length. Your shots have an ease to them that I feel mine are lacking. Maybe it's all in my head <g>.

Best,
Kevin

Nesster, wonder if that camera is going to make it to your brother-in-law <g>. The abandoned hospital looks like an ideal place to shoot pictures. I think one of the ghost hunter shows paid a visit to this locale and I thought to myself it would be a great place to bring a camera. Looks like you beat me to it (and brought several cameras).

Best,
Kevin

P. S. Spent the afternoon leafing through a book on the television series "24" with some behind the scenes still photos shot by the director and various cameramen in addition to some of the publicity stills shot by a pro who was of Czech origin. At the end of the book, all the photographers listed the gear they shot the book photos with and what their first cameras were. Turns out the pro's first camera was a Kiev given to her by her father when she was a little girl <g>. It was interesting to note that all camera makes were represented among the shooters except Pentax (Fuji S1, S2, S3, Canon D10, D20, Nikon D2X, Oly and Sony, too). They don't know what they're missing...

you got it. Though I solved the problem by finding another Miranda D for him. You are right, they did film one of the ghost series there, and I understand also one of the Chuck Palahniuk based movies, Choke.

Doskopanda, that's great rural grunge you got there, keep on posting them
