I believe they planned to discontinue it. I did (do) like the look of HP5+, too. And it looks like most of the 4x5 negs from that time are Tri-X, anyway, so I wasn't completely fooled

I do remember buying six boxes of 100 sheets and freezing them because we thought it was going away. All hindsight, though. Getting old is a bitch; I recommend you avoid it if possible. Just the other day I was looking through slides from a shoot I was *certain* I did in Kodachrome, and bigger than shite it was stamped "E6". Huh. Memory is a tricky thing.

Anybody got recommendation on current C41 process B&W film? Anyone got a good lead on a lab? I'm thinkin' about breakin' out the T90

I do shoot Pentax, at least sometimes

- New Fomapan 200 in D-76, MX, SMC-M 50/1.7

But I haven't given up variety either

- Kodak ColorPlus 200, Kiev 4, Jupiter 8M

Tri-X and Plus-X both survived. The film that didn't was Panatomic-X

Good work! I am pretty jazzed about your Kiev shot. It looks like the lens is a good copy and is nicely dialed in. Was that wide open?

thanks, Steve - AFAIR 1/50 and f/4, maybe f/2.8. At any rate below where my Kiev's meter can read. The meter does OK in brighter situations, i.e. where I really don't need it

Calling all American film shooters: If you've seen Javier's (and others) UltraMax400 shots and have an interest in giving the film a go for yourselves, the CVS circular this week was advertising a 4 pack of 24 exposure rolls for $9.99. Not sure if this price was nation-wide, but it can't hurt to look.

I've purchased the same 4 pack on sale for $7.98, but haven't seen that price for quite some time.

Shot with a new-to-me ME Super (3rd functioning copy of the camera I own <g>), Ultramax400, M50 f2

I'll share the story of ME Super No. 3 in another post. In the meanwhile, Ultramax400 is available semi-cheap at CVS.

Thanks, Javier. I was thinking the same thing of your shots (particularly the jewelry store with all the purple <g>). Because it's usually so inexpensive and the rolls are only 24 exposures, I like to use it as test film for new-to-me cameras. If the camera needs some work and the exposures don't turn out the best, it's no great loss. If the camera is good and the exposures do turn out, I'm usually happy with the results. All that being said, I prefer Fuji Reala 100 (or Ektar, but that's really a horse of a different color, literally).

Heh....I don't even know what that last stuff is, man, I am really new to this. So far, rodinal is the only thing I've tried, and it's just so easy, and I like the results, so my motivation to try other things at the moment is pretty low. If my schedule ever settles down.....maybe in the winter.....

I'm using the Epson V500, because it was cheap. Bought it new on Amazon for $125. I bought the VueScan software, too, but honestly it's confusing, so I've just been using the free Epson Scan utility.
