Bobh, good on you! Saw your introduction of the venerable K1000 in the "Introduce your film Pentax" thread. Looks like you got it at a very good price. I'm impressed with your repair work on the meter; I'm not very handy at all.

Enjoy your "new" old camera.

Best,
Kevin
Thanks, but the conductive grid repair paint makes what could be a difficult repair a simple operation. The battery box contact is stainless and I couldn't reuse the crimp lug or solder. The wire may be aluminum, I couldn't get solder to stick.
I was concerned that the repair would throw off meter readings because of changed resistance but it isn't a problem. The corrosion ran up 3/4" into the wire so I had to splice in more wire. When dry the paint is physically strong enough to hold things together.

ColdEye, the caption makes the cheetah pic. :-)

I like to shoot some film pics of my daughters every so often, 'cause I know the negatives will last as long as I am likely to need/want them. Here's two with Tmax 100 (a few years out of date):

Thanks for that. I thought I was just going to catch the tail, good thing at least half of the body was there. How many years expired is the film? It's like it's not expired.

I pulled the shadows down a little, either exposure was off, there was a development issue or perhaps the expiration of the film, but contrast was a little lower than I expected. Still, I like it. Probably 4-8 years past dates, I have a mix in the basement. The local photo shop used to sell it for 25 cents a roll after it expired, and i just kept buying it. :-)

Recently acquired a K1000 and have been enjoying the joys and challenges of film this past week. Both were taken with Kodak Gold 200 that has expired by 8 years -- I was expecting the worst but was quite surprised by the results!

Sorry to hear they were out, after I pick up the 10 rolls and went back the next day tries to get more but they were all gone too! I also asked for a rain check but they were not sure when the next shipment will arrive! I think it is a good deal for a buck a roll and for casual shooting. I just finished one roll and can’t wait to see how it turns out.

When I went in they were sold out too. The manager informed me the film was being discontinued? But they could still order some in for me. They gave me a box of four rolls for $4 while I wait for more to come in.

Yes, the water level was high and some areas had flooding problem. You took the shots from the Forks side. Just walk across the bridge and in front of an old French church, there is an observation deck. I took the photo from there. I think IQ of F 35-70 is almost like a prime.
