Over the last few weeks I've been scanning a bunch of old negatives from 2000-2006 that I shot using my first real camera, a Minolta Maxxum HTsi (Dynax 505si). I sold the camera in 2008 after getting my K10D and since then have gotten way into shooting film and have owned nearly 30 different cameras in the last 3 years. At the time I had no real reference for whether the HTsi was any good and so, out of sheer curiosity, I got on ebay and found a nice XTsi (same as HTsi but metal lens mount, pano, and eye start AF) for $20 shipped. I also found a Maxxum AF 35-80mm II for $3.81+$6.30 shipping which I am still waiting for. In the meantime, the camera showed up yesterday so I puts some batteries in it, mounted a Maxxum AF 70-210 II zoom that a neighbor gave me last year, and loaded a roll of Fujicolor 200 and went out and shot it.
I'm happy to say the camera worked great (with the 70-210 it seems to want to overexpose) and overall, it is a nice well featured little camera. Compared to my Pentax MZ-L (similar era and specs) though, the Minolta feels cheaper (has plastic tripod threads) in general, which is a little funny since the MZ/ZX are often nocked for cheap build. Overall though, I liked it, will be interested to see how it handles with the AF 35-80.
Here are a few from the roll.
