My last roll of E100VS. KX with Vivitar 24mm and Pentax 55mm. Lab develop, home scan. I finally realized that my scanner doesn't need any sort of recalibration, I just need to give the 2400dpi scans some heavy sharpening. The detail is there after all! (Nevermind Flickr's oversharpening...)

Boy is film expensive 8 dollars a roll comes to $0.33 a shot not including developing the exposures
Here in the US film can be had, at BHPhoto for example, for 1.79 a roll of 24 exposures of Fujifilm 200. Which is not a bad film.

I started using only 36 exposure film cost to develop is the same as 24, usually. Ektar 100 costs 5.50 and Kodak 135 ISO 400 costs 2.79 a roll. I bought some but haven't used it yet. They have an Agfa 200 film for 2.50 a roll that I haven't tried yet, I'm going to get one in my next order to see what it's like. Agfa ISO 400 is 2.90

Developing is the biggest cost - usually around 10 bucks per roll...

Man...you've got to find a new lab, either that or quit ordering prints!

Ok that is the cost of developing + scanning. Printing is more. If I had a scanner it would be about 8 bucks per roll, but I don't shoot that much, so a scanner is not worth it to save 2-4 bucks a month, if that.

Well maybe your area is better served... it used to cost less here in Atlanta just a few months ago, but that's the cost now. Even Walgreens here will charge more than that. Costco doesn't develop anymore, and Walmart only does prints and doesn't return your negatives. Dunwoody Photo is the only game in town other than Walgreens as far as I'm concerned, but at least they are very good at what they do. And they're cheaper than Walgreens, too.

Mail order companies will cost about the same by the time shipping is factored in, unless I do a lot of rolls in one time...

Phil I like this shot, especially the lone red bud standing tall among the rest of the field.

Nice series Frank.

It's been a while for me, but here are a few from my most recent rolls, just back from Dwayne's today. Again, I passed by the other bodies (twice) to load film in the black KX, which normally has the M50/1.4 attached. But for the first two, I think I used the M28/2.8.

And of course, it would be a post from me without a shot with goats. This one was captured on Superia 200 with the M50/1.4.
If I had to title this, it would be "Jack Attack" because the goat up on the hind legs is Jack, and you can figure out the rest.

My film order also arrived today, five rolls of Ektar 100 and a couple T-Max 100. Looking forward to the T-Max as it will be my first black&white shooting since 1979.

cheers,
Fred

Thanks Fred. Good work with the KX (my first SLR film camera), the first close-up cork shot is my favorite. Enjoy shooting the T-Max, it works really well with an orange filter if you have one.

These look good. Scanning is tough work and the amount of sharpening to apply is an issue I still haven't satisfactorily come to terms with yet.

These were taken on Portra 160 in my KX, all in Seville.

I just got a roll of Ektar 100 back shot through my bronica, all of the shots that were shot stopped down past 5.6 show horrible vignetting. I'm using a lens hood that came with it maybe that's the problem or could it be sticky aperture blades? I will try the next roll with no lens hood. I Liked a couple of the shots so it's disheartening because as everyone knows it's so expensive.
That is sure typical hood vignitting. Maybe the hood that came with the lens is not really the correct hood. Maybe you could find a photo of the new lens and hood on internet to compare with the one on your lens. Good luck!

Very nice work. I particularly like the carriage horse photo and the sharp focus on the brown horse's head.
