Cross post from Portraits
Took this print in 1968 with a Yashica Lynx 5000 with plenty of backlight.. Despite technical flaws, I like this more now than I did in 1968

Man I really need to get my hands on some of the better color print films. I love shooting slides, but there have been some damn nice reala and portra shots on the last couple pages making me rethink chromes! Especially considering I can have 35mm done locally vs sending out...

Thank you. Funny, back then I thought it a failure because of the lighting, but now I see a different, more interesting, side to it.

Is that a Pentax Super Program the young girl is holding?

Yes the shot has a moody warm feel to it. This is exactly why some old film shots are so mesmerizing.

Hey! I can finally post a pentax shot - 645, the 75mm, and Fuji 400H

Great combination. I don't get to shoot 400H nearly as often as I'd like because it's so damn sunny here in Spain all the time, but I love the colours from it.

Finally developed the 10 rolls of 35mm that I was saving up, and am now working on scanning.

Here are a few of them.

Hi folks...Since our film community is small here, I thought it would be a great idea to have a thread on images that show the beauty of film...Does it have to be a Pentax? ''No'', lets make it about photography...I and others, I am sure, would like to see what different films put out, so film type would be a help if you know. Now lets see those film shots.

Canon AE-1 with 200 provia film.
Here is one I took in Death Valley. This has raised some eye brows and awed some people. Some have said it had great composition and others have said it begs one. Same thing with color and light. I posted this in National Geographic photo section also and got some enthusiastic reception. I used Kodak Ektar 100 with my old Pentax LX.

Glad to see you have found the best thread on the Pentax Forums. It truly must have been awesome when this photo was taken. Death Valley is on my short list of places to visit before I get much older. Tell me, what month was this?

Thanks for the invitation. Yes, DV is an out of the world place. It also poses some unique challenges for photography. For starters it is very very hot in summer. Summer can also be very hazy and dusty due to wind storms. I went in early spring, late-March to be precise. Spring is cooler, less dusty and you may also catch nice desert flowers blooming. This photo was taken at a place which is iconic and no matter how I look at it, I did not do an iota of justice to the real grandeur of nature.

Time is the photographer's greatest ally. Return there frequently and spend more time at each place and at some point its secrets will be revealed.

You will love this place. Just don't even think of going now, unless you like the sizzling sun. Please share your pictures which I am sure will be great.
