Beautiful job. I really like it. The lone tree on top really makes the photo.

Thanks everyone!

I had a go with making a wet print of the photo I shot Sunday. This is a direct scan from an 8"x10" wet print I made today. I used a #4 contrast filter and exposed the paper for 55 seconds. I then burned the sky in for 20 seconds to get definition in the sky.

Printed on some cheap variable contrast RC paper and developed in Illford Multigrade developer. I then brewed some strong coffee and stained the print for 20 minutes in the coffee solution to get somewhat of a sepia tone.

I think I got pretty close to the directly scanned negative. I am EXTREMELY new to wet printing though, so I have a huge amount to learn.

Looks great.

Great colours from that Agfa. I wish I'd taken more photos on film when I was in NY.

Great photo.
The Retinette and Kodachrome did a great job, as did the photographer.

Amazing! Great sky and landscape, and the signs and truck just add that much more. Fantastic color.

Thanks David.
I kinda wish I had been out with a different camera (or wider lens) and non expired film, but you gotta work with what you've got, and I'm happy enough with this shot.

You bought a 4x5 enlarger to go with the camera? Now that, my friends, is dedication!

Yeah, I kind of jumped right in with both feet into film. My whole darkroom cost only $200.00. People are practically GIVING everything away. I bought a Leitz Focomat 1 35mm elarger for $10.00. My 4x5 enlarger is an Omega D5 XL with Chromega timer/power supply and has a color head as well as a diffuser head and came with a 26" x 26" vacuum hold down table, only cost me $90.00! Then the various small things like safe light, tanks, trays, tongs, etc cost another $100.00.

Craingslist is incredible for finding darkroom stuff on the cheap. Those enlargers alone cost thousands just a few years ago.

As for storage, I am working out of my shop's bathroom right now. I have everything set up on a small 2' x 4' table. You could have something as simple as a small cart with all your darkroom stuff on it and wheel it into a bathroom when you want to print. It really doesn't take up that much space. And it is FUN!

I can't afford a high dollar inkjet printer, so most of my images are sent away to be printed somewhere else. The prints I sell I never even see, they just go straight to the customer. With film, I finally have a way to make my own prints, I handle everything from first exposing the film, to the final print. It is a very rewarding experience.

I can't wait to learn more about the darkroom, and build up the skills needed to make good prints.
