Good question. I have no idea. Far as that goes, it might be the monitor on this dinky Dell laptop. Honestly, I hadn't thought of it. I don't always trust the color balance on some laptops I use, although this one is usually pretty good.

Nice results with those - especially surprising is that little DA35 wide open performance seem to be really up there considering it is a DA lens. And 20mm on film is really wide - I wonder how would it compare to my 17mm Tokina...
Great developing and scans too - did you do all by yourself ? What scanner have you used ?

When I traveled through Europe I always kept a daily journal of what I did everyday and the data on the shots that I took...there weren't any computers or EXIF data back in those days...LOL.
Just recently I made an attempt to send these photos to both of these guys after about 40 years! I had both their names and addresses in my journal. I was able to finally contact they guy on the left and I sent him the photos but I was sad to find out that the guy on the right died in a motorcycle accident in Europe....

Being so meticulous with your journal might have been bothersome and certainly sounds alike but look how much of a value it added to those images after so many years. These portraits are great as they are but after this short story they gained so much depth and meaning - one can easily see by this example how simple information can add the dimension to the photograph.

Thanks! Yep, the DA35/2.4 is a stand-out lens on film, as well as digital. Fast AF, sharp from wide-open, and little vignetting. M20 is another great lens, although I find my copy tends to be soft in the top RH corner (de-centering?).

Ilford Lab Direct (Welcome to the ILFORD Lab Direct website - ILFORD Lab Direct Home Page) does my processing - decent prices, and reliably great developing. I scan myself on an old Canon FS4000 scanner - not much better this side of a Coolscan V or Dimage 5400, and easily the best value film/slide scanner around. Scanned in VueScan, sharpened in Photoshop, levels etc in Lightroom.
