Skierd : Yes, I used 'Box Speed' when using FRESH Velvia 50 BUT all my Velvia 50 is outdated and given to me by a Camera Club member and it was not in a box so do not know exactly HOW OLD it was == on other tests with my LX I found 32 ASA was good so used that with the ME Super.Also, some Sensia 100 Mk II I found better at 80 ASA not 100 as 100 was too dark. I captured this in Raleigh, North Carolina. A member here donated a Pentax ZX-3 to me and this was shot on expired Fujicolor Superia XTRA 400 at Castle Mont Rouge, in Rougemont, NC. I believe I shot this on a 50mm f/1.4 SMC-A lens.

This is just a test to test out some ancient Velvia I bought off Ebay. It was expired in 1990!

It has a green cast to the film when doing a straight scan, but this is the color corrected (as much as I could anyway) version. Not to bad, and I can see some use for it, more of a pictoral film than good Velvia.

I bought 125 sheets for less than $0.50 a sheet so I think it was still a good deal!

Shot with my Zone VI 4x5 camera and Fujinon 125mm F5.6 lens using a 2 stop graduated ND filter. Processed with Arista Rapid E-6 Kit.

Right now I'm still using the last of the mercury batteries that had been stashed away with this body.

I've also got a MR-9 adapter so that I can use 386 silver-oxide batteries with it, but I haven't tried it out yet.

I always used alkaline 386s for my Canons with no problems.

Ftbn, 50mm f1.4 SSC, warming filter and Portra 160.

No it doesn't, not even on my Canon F--1 Old:

I don't have the schematics but I assume Canons had a bridge circuit like Spotmatics. To be honest none of my cameras under or overexpose because of the battery.

One thing is certain, not having a lot of glass, cuts down on reflections. The downside might be flatness of focus field and aberrations having limited correction especially for larger apertures. Even four element Tessar designs seem to limit their aperture to f2.8. However, in most cases these flaws may not be apparent, and one is rewarded with a sharp picture hard to tell from more complex glass.
Here is a triplet viewfinder 35mm shot I took in 1961 which still holds up well.
