Gone?! I am familiar with your part of town and the bowling alleys were both landmark buildings.
Steve
Leilani Lanes and Sunset Bowl... yup. Both are history as of a few years back.
I'd suggest you drive through Ballard, but can't in good conscience. We actually moved up to just a few blocks from where Leilani once stood.
There's a condo building there now. As with Sunset's former spot. This area has basically been raped by FAST and unchecked development, quicker than most any other area in the city (amazingly). I don't recognize it as the place I moved to in 1999 which is why we finally moved up to Greenwood, and are considering just getting out of here altogether.

Ballard has a skyline now.

I'm left wondering how you guys bowl nowadays. Have you gone back to using heavy stones and sticks?

Here's a link to my guitars on Flickr:

https://www.flickr.com/photos/11308754@N08/albums/72157639386214273

It shows a few of my builds and an assortment of electrics I also own (but that I didn't build).

Tell me what you think of the pics I shot of my guitars. All the ones that show the maroon cloth backdrop. I used a little 3mp Fuji for the shots -- the only digital I owned back then. But the reason why they came out as good as they did was I took the pics outdoors in open shade. Open shade minimizes shadows and especially glare. In this case, I set things up under my carport cover.

I don't have any recent pics of my building process. Got some old ones archived somewhere. I've been dealing with health issues recently, which have kept me away from building. Then we moved a year ago. And when we moved, I lost my workshop. I have plans to build another one, but things are going kinda slow and I don't know when I'll finally get started on a new shop.

And just so this post isn't totally off-topic, here's my latest news. I bought a Moskva 5 6x9 folder off eBay and it arrived today. Cosmetically, it shows wear, but everything works the way it should, and I'm really looking forward to working with this large film format.
Mmmm, to be honest I'm not impressed by the pics, but I'm impressed by the guitars! I think you should try to use the Moskva to document the building process, possibly in B&W....on my side I have few pics of a course I've taken for building a baroque recorder in Cambridge last year, but I didn't use a film camera, I was too busy in the process.

However, few pics...Bronica at the Achensee:

Farm and guest house:

Verona seen by a Jenaflex and a Vario-Sonnar, Portra 160:

Few shots of the excellent Notkon 58mm, unfortunately I don't have Alan's girls at hand, Nikon FM and Tmax100:

This is a night shot at 1/30s and f1.4:

This is the new Dr Chau Chak Building, designed by Frank Gehry for the University of Technology Sydney. It's Australia's first Gehry and frankly I think we were doing just fine without

We won one of those gehry things in a poker game... I call it the tornado in a trailer park. Unfortunately it's attached itself to our Royal Ontario Museum. :'-(

I think the preferred uniform of all the kool kids is a bag of weed, a bathrobe and sandals. And a terribly real bowling ball. At least that's what I tell MrsD. when she thinks we oughta test out the candlepin lanes at our local local strip mall. No Alan, not that kind of strip mall.

Oh whoa... I think that was under early construction when I was in Sydney for a good while a few years back. Good friend of mine was at UTS at the time.
That's... interesting.
*Edit: The shots are cool. The building: "interesting".

In Canada we call that Curling!

I guess the problem is that there is no "APP" for bowling, so no younger people go any longer.

Phil.
