That's an interesting article on duping negatives. I've been duping my negatives for several years now, first with a DSLR and more recently with my NEX 7. It's enlightening to see how someone else goes about accomplishing this. Duping negs can be an involved process. I find that it depends a lot on the emulsion. Some dupe easily, some are very frustrating. I'll have to give his method a try with a frustrating emulsion. Ektar specifically.

Ektar is frustrating even with a scanner - for me, using an Epson 550, it's about a 50% hit rate for accurate colour rendition, my most common complaint being scans that come out with a distinctly blue cast. I have had the same thing happen with Portra 160 and 400, but never with any of Kodak's consumer colour films, nor any Fuji emulsions, which makes me wonder if there is something about the backing on Kodak pro films that confuses scanners.

Thanks Phil - yeah I remember you mentioning you've really enjoyed it. Based on this last experience for me, I'm really not sure what may have happened to the first couple rolls I shot of it last summer. I know my LX was metering strangely which may have contributed but I had shots all over the place on that first roll - color shifts and strange casts. Perhaps I rated it incorrectly then but not likely since I rarely shoot asa50 - I'd be apt to remember. But anyhow .... This recent one is a completely solid affair in comparison.

I have also found some inconsistencies with this film (CineStill 50) as well. Considering it's re-spooled Kodak move film film, there may be variations in the batches.

Never the less, when you nail a shot the results can be outstanding.

That's a nice shot as well, I love how CineStill 50 handles blues and has pastel tones in its colours. Very sharp to boot!

I think I posted this shot before, but it's my favourite one with this film so far. I used my Super A and A50/1.7:
