Ektar is frustrating even with a scanner - for me, using an Epson 550, it's about a 50% hit rate for accurate colour rendition, my most common complaint being scans that come out with a distinctly blue cast. I have had the same thing happen with Portra 160 and 400, but never with any of Kodak's consumer colour films, nor any Fuji emulsions, which makes me wonder if there is something about the backing on Kodak pro films that confuses scanners.

If you open one of those blueish Ektar scans in Photoshop (or any editor with a Levels function), and crop out any film edge border, then run Levels, then look at the Blue Channel, I will bet that there is a space of about 10-30 points between the left edge of the histogram (0 point) and where the histogram "hill" starts on the left.

Here's one of my images, straight from the scanner. In the scanning software I set the Blackpoint using the eyedropper on an area of unexposed film. Notice the blue cast and the space on the left side of the blue channel histogram.

Shot a couple rolls of Cinestill - hadn't in quite some time. Very pleased with the 50D results (the first two photos below) for the first time. Both it and the 800T (3rd photo) I rated a bit below box but cannot recall exactly how much - less than a full stop I believe.

Fantastic shot, great curve and angles, then the rock and trees. Really nice. The textures are wonderful. Then the waterfall... Good work.

My scanner is an older Epson 4990, which was Epson's top of the line model prior to the release of the V7xx models. I've had very good results with all emulsions, including Portra -- especially Portra, in fact -- except Ektar. My Ektar scans don't usually have a blue cast. Mine are somewhat more subtle. Earthtones, such as light browns and tans take on purple casts. It's a fairly easy process to correct this in post, but it's obvious enough where it has to be corrected. Trying to dupe Ektar is another matter entirely, though. The reversed images take on way too much cyan and, no matter how hard I try, I can't get rid of it all. I'll have to give this other method a try -- maybe it will help with the cyan some.

Yes, the famous "Italian monkey" driving position...derived by the fact the cockpit was designed for the average height of an Italian in the late 50s/early 60s (I think under 165cm).

When they found out North Americans and North Europeans were taller they just made longer rails to push the seat more backward, but the distance between the pedals and the steering wheel remained the same.

So, as you liked it I think you need to see the front of the car with the ASI gold plate (the highest price from the Classic cars register):
