I went ahead and cleaned out the rest of the seller's stash (3 more 5pk) of Centuria Pro 400 220 from whom I picked up a single box about 3 weeks ago or so.

I've picked up a fair amount of still-fresh looking expired and discontinued films I've never tried before. Going to make for a slow and bittersweet trickle out of my freezer.

Awfully in love with this stuff at the moment though to be sure. It behaves much like Portra400 or Pro400H in my experience so far, but with a tad less latitude, yet has the characteristics I like most of each of the others. A bit more punchy than Portra, but not as saturated as Pro400H. Me likey.

I love it. It's tough to come by now, and usually quite expensive. I've one roll remaining which I'll save and continue to hope the new Ferrania, if it ever gets up off the ground, will bring this emulsion back to us.

I've nearly picked up some of that Crossbird a number of times but never pulled the trigger. I'd say those results are just lovely. What sort of PP correction and how much did you wind up doing? How were they scanned?

Scanned with the FlexColor software that comes with the X1, using a standard RGB profile for 16 bit output. Scanned at 1500ppi, as maximum resolution of a 645 would give a file just over 200MB in size. Files are about 45MB in size. In LR, I adjusted the tint slider towards the magenta end by +18 for the clematis, and left it alone for the irises. Neither needed any adjustment in temperature. Some other images needed a bit more than that - I'll post a couple tomorrow.
The grain is perfectly obvious at 100% and is a coarse black speckling. If the emulsion is exactly the same in the 35mm version it might be a problem as it will seem larger in the final image. I'll find out as Jacques at Argentix threw in a couple of outdated 35mm rolls for free!

I love coastal cypress. Love them. Just photographed the "cave tree" Cypress at Kalaloch here on the WA coast last week. I've been watching that one soldier on since I was a kid.

Coastal Cypress remind me of very large bonzai trees!
Still trying to figure out how to take images of the giant redwoods!

I'd be glad to. Here are some details about the challanges of using film with astro imaging:

One big advantage is that film is less sensitive to movement slip or very small tangent errors, so if the set-up is good, film shots can be upwards of 30 minutes and still have little to no noticeable blur.

For the setup, I use two iOptron Skytracker units. That way, if I screw up one's settings or get wind-related shake, I have a backup. And if both go well, I have twice the photos!

I've managed the iOptron with a 135mm on the front of the Alpha 9 and the results were great. But my tripods are very stable -- a Manfrotto and a Vivitar tripod that, tightened down, can hold a large-format monorail camera steady enough for a long-exposure shot.The iOptron is fantastic for using SLRs and the like. It's not good, or strong, enough for use with a 500mm lens, for instance. I might be willing to use a light 200mm, but I'm not sure how well that would work. Admittedly, I want to try now.

Hmm. I'm thinking it might be the same emulsion as Rollei CR200, which has a habit of trending very yellow in my experience.
