I Really Like How This Lens Performs

Cape Buffalo With Friends
Kruger National Park, South Africa
Pentax ME Super SE, Pentax smc P-A 70-210mm f/4 Zoom, Kodak Portra 400

I shot with a Nikon D700 for 5 years and couldn't bring myself to get the Nikkor 70-200 f/2.8 or f/4.0
due to the size and price. Planning for my South Africa trip I knew I needed a long lens and as a portrait
photographer I never owned any lens longer than 135mm (I got the 135mm f/2.5 back in the 80's)
Well, I got the above 70-210 cheap on eBay and, on film, it is good enough for me.

This mountain is gradually being eaten away by quarrying, and a curious flume has been cut for pouring the crushed rock down to the quay. This is adjacent to the Canso causeway that joins NS to Cape Breton (mixed feelings about that causeway in CB as they love their island status).

Both F6, Portra 400, Argentix c-41 kit, motorised Rondinax, X1 scans.

Fooled the lab tech too since he/she rotated it before sending it to me. They deserve the credit for making this a more interesting photo.

I am not totally certain, but I think that it was quite possibly made by Ferrania. Whether it was a original Ferrania emulsion, or something designed by 3M, I don't know. There are some color characteristics that seem similar to the Ferrania 200 that I have shot, but it mostly seems like a very different film. It could just be so old that its original characteristics have been lost. I don't have an expiry date, but research suggests that 3M was selling the film from the late 80s to the mid/late 90s.
