X-post with MF thread. But, man, what a difference this Vericolor 160 VPS is over the VHC and VPH. Much finer grain and smother tonaliity over all, I'd say. VPS was pretty much replaced by Portra 160NC after the this.
Flash back to the introduction of the new 747-400 in 1989. NW Airlines was the launch customer for Boeing's new 747-400. And this plane was among the first block to be delivered to them in Aug 1990. For Boeing, the introduction of the 747-400 was hell. They had bitten off more than they could chew on a 3-day rate. Hardly any two planes were configured the same interior-wise and it was a constant learning curve for much of the final assembly areas that were plagued with build and design errors. Planes were going out final assembly uncompleted and they were packed out on the tarmac anywhere there was room. And for each day the plane was late for delivery, the more of a contractual discount the customer got off the plane's sticker price.
