CineStill is an odd duck. I've taken quite a few good shots with it, but it's temperamental and is very sensitive to light leaks. If not exposed in perfect conditions it gets pretty sour, which is actually nice for adding atmosphere but doesn't make things look very pretty. I'm kind of eager to try it in 120 format.
I tried their alpha release of 800T. It was interesting, but marred by some production defects. (Hence the alpha release.)

I've got another non-alpha 120 roll that I should try out, but I haven't figured out what to use it for.

I've also had strange results with Cinestill 800.

I've got an album with similar red splotches: Cinestill 800T Scans
I'd guess light leaks near the door hinge? I had something similar on the first roll I ever shot. I really like the colours you got out of your scans though. Mine always seem to come off an ugly greenish colour unless I tweak them after.

Two shots from the last rolls that I got processed. Scanned at home.

Ektar (program plus, m 135/3.5)

This one turned out okay, colours-wise

Not a typical Cinestill 800T subject for sure. Think it's a processing issue? It's it processed in a different cocktail than C-41? <- That's more for the post about the unacceptable/undesirable results. I'd really like to try Cinestill when I go to Europe next year and visit numerous cities. I think I've finally decided to just bring two or three small 35mm bodies and a few lenses rather than try to make the trip with a 6x7 or 645n. Still considering a 6x4.5 P&S like the Fujis.

I took two rolls of Cinestill 800T with me on a recent trip. Ignoring that I've never had colour results as good as sample images — likely a result of not doing my own scans — the results were still disappointing: one roll was almost completely ruined by static visible all across the roll, and the other had about half the frames covered in red spotting and blotches. These are two of the better frames from the second roll, but even in the first image the defect is painfully obvious:

Spotmatic II.
Super-Takumar 50mm f1.4
(Image 1) / Adaptall-2 28mm f2.5 (Image 2.)
Cinestill 800T.
Any idea what's behind the booth that might be causing that? Is there something back there? High rise with some dimly lit windows or reflected light from another source? Or it is actually some issue on the film?

If I remember correctly, I just used whatever preset for Silverfast that I thought looked best. Not that I remember which film preset I used...

How much playing did you do with the colors of the Ektar? Or is that about what it looked like when you scanned it? I ask because I didn't find Ektar very impressive until I scanned it with Epsonscan, which can really pop the colors. Silverfast seems to have blah colors for Ektar.

The red halos around the lights are because cinestill remove the anti halation / remjet layer to enable the film to go through standard c41 minilabs. It's an inbuilt problem of the film.

Gorgeous shot, so full of energy and great composition. Can understand why it's your favorite.

I've never tried the 800T version of CineStill, just the daylight 50 ISO. I have not had any issues with it, other that it works best in very sunny weather.

I'd have to dig out the negatives, but from what I recall of the location there should be no lights behind it at that level. There aren't a lot of particularly tall buildings in the area.

Yeah, that part I was expecting.

I've only tried the 50D once. I didn't have any problems with it, from what I can recall.

Ahh, I see what you mean now, I thought you meant the lights. Just a thought, did these films go through an X-ray scanner? Possible culprit.

They were in a lead-lined X-ray bag, but they did indeed.

I scanned with Epson's program for Windows, I have a v370. I only made minimal adjustments to white balance and to saturation. I may try to scan again and get a warmer color.

Lovely photo. It's a nice camera, pristine condition and serviced by Eric. Everything you need as a walk around camera to learn. Don't really need a Judas window or MLU...if she feels like that's something she wants in the future, I have a KX and MX.
