Nice shot. Wondering your general views on the Mamiya 55mm. I have been using the Mamiya 80mm f 1.9 N with adapter on my K-1, and considering whether to buy some of the other medium format lenses, also for use on K-1, K-3, etc.
My best Mamiya 645 lenses are the 55mm/2.8 and the 80mm/4 macro. These are both superb. The Macro is unusually good at infinity as well as close up; I believe it has a floating element. These are all great on the Mamiya, as well as with 135 film, and on my Pentax K5iis as well. I also have the Mamiya 645 45mm, the 150mm, and an 80mm/2.8. The 45 is a bit soft at the edges on the Mamiya 645, less so on the K1000 obviously, and even less with the APSc sensor. I haven't used the other two lenses enough to state an opinion.

Thank you for sharing that information. I may be tempted to pick up a 55 and/or an 80/macro. My only M lens thus far is the 80/1.9, which is important as the fastest medium format lens ever produced. Other than aperture, I have not yet identified anything remarkable about it's performance, though I am still trying and testing in order to learn its areas of strength and weakness. The 80/2.8 is said to be almost the same as the 1.9 at matching apertures. Let's stay tuned.

Probably a good idea to save the corn dogs until after the ride?

Thanks Kevin. I've been driving past this place for years and always wanted to stop and take photos here. It's one of those places that is hard to remember where it is, and you can't really see it from I-5 until you pass the exit. I finally managed to stop, and got a few photos just before it started pouring rain.

That's awesome! Glad you stopped! Those can be the best. A favorite shot of mine is rather like that... a spot I passed for at least a decade that I always wanted to shoot. An old mill and dock in Discovery Bay out toward Port Angeles. I finally did stop (this was over 10 years ago) and literally that same winter the entire thing collapsed and is now completely gone but for a couple pilings. It's not the best shot and not a film shot - wasn't long after all my film gear was stolen - but topical.

edit: (This prompted me to dig out those frames and rework one of them - sorry for the non-film images. It won't happen again.)

Very cool. Looks like a great place for photography. Too bad about your film gear
