in the meantime... here's one from my grandpa as well on Kodachrome (attached, 2nd photo of the fallls). Not a clue which camera he was shooting at the time, and my dad has no idea since he would have been 2 years old at the time!
There's a number from this Yosemite trip. I think I posted one from the tunnel viewpoint on Wanona Rd a year or two ago. Amazed how these hold up.

The other (first shot) is from me last years and is at the top of Mirror Lake. The spot your grand-dad's pic was taken, Colton ( @Swift1) from would be on the other side and about a good 100-200 yards back down the trail (to the left). There's a trail to the lake on both sides of the river, but you can't cross until about 2 miles further up (to the right) unless you wade, possibly swim.
The rock face in the background here is the lower part (crazy to imagine) of the Northeast side of North Dome.
It was my first time in the park last summer. It's definitely one of the few places that the phrase "photos don't do it justice" is true by orders of magnitude. I'd seen so many photos over the years and I thought I understood what it would be like.... boy was I wrong.
