Alas, I am all out of cart shots. The project I was doing that involved them got stalled.

These ones look like they've had a rough go of it.
When I pulled into the parking lot and saw these poor buggers, I thought of your project and couldn’t pass up the opportunity.

Does anyone know what has changed regarding image posting? I have long posted my images to Ipernity and then used the BB code to post them here. Now, instead of the image, I see a message to "click here". I noticed that dssmithhfx's images are doing the same but he uses a different website to host his images. Any ideas?

Thanks, Kris.

The reason is that the images in question are hosted on http, not https. There's a setting in the control panel for it.

I wondered if anybody would recognize that. I'll be posting quite a few more from my trip in coming weeks.

The setting is whether to allow "mixed" http/https content for forum pages you view. This is generally not a good feature to disable, at least not from a security perspective.

Better is for the posting user to manually edit the image URL to be https (assuming the remote server supports such...most do). That way all users will see that users share rather than just those who have disabled the default mixed content setting for this site.

In the context of linking images, there is no security impact. If it were online banking yes, you'd have a point.

Good point. Selecting that option still does not ensure that your images are visible to other users, only that you can see non-secured stuff, I think...though maybe not.

Note: I just did a test comment with an image tag having an http url. It displayed just fine. I must be special.

I have the feature turned on, but have never seen the "link instead of the photo" on a user post. I am getting soooo confused.

I had the same problem a couple of months ago (as did several other members) and fixed it in my settings, though it was already set to the correct option, turning it off and then on again (or off then on, I don't remember) solved the problem.

Symbols of modern late-capitalism life, they are. But that's just my fancy university learnin' talking.

They're nice subjects also because they are weird-looking. I wonder who came up with the un-killable "wheel-around a birdcage" design.
