I plan on doing more studio work anyways, so I don't mind how big and heavy it is. I'm looking for a challenge and really feeling the process, so I think it'll work out. Plus, that rotating back and the lenses are pretty smexy.

Still, I can take it out in the field, too. I don't mind using a tripod.
It sounds good. I take big camera gear out in the field a lot too.

Slow and steady wins the race, according to ancient Greeks. And RB67 is pretty slow and steady...

I'd love to try the Bronica GS-1 as its one of the smaller 6x7 SLRs.
Have you considered a Fuji 6x7 or Mamiya 7?

I am only just getting used to using the tripod frequently with the Fuji 6x9, it is worth it though.
Cool, sounds like you'll have fun with the RB. There seems to be many good choices with the old medium format cameras. I have a soft spot for the Pentax 6x7 however want to try other types too.

I'll cast another vote for the RB67. I have the PRO model and I LOVE it. It makes beautiful images. Here is one from my first roll. I don't remember all of the exif, but it was shot on Pan F 50 at probably f16 with roughly a 1/2 second shutter speed. The tripod was a Manfrotto X-PROb with a Vanguard SB100 head. Developed myself. Scanned on Canoscan 9000f ii and cleaned up the dust in Photoshop. Zoom in and fall in love with the detail!

I'm more of a SLR person. When you get into those larger formats, the rangefinders seem to be the only way to keep the size down, but most rangefinders I've shot didn't click with me. (my Kodak Retina being a bit of an exception.) When you look at larger than 6x6, it seems the Bronica GS-1 is the smallest SLR option. I don't know that I'm all that interested--I really like my ETRSi, the negatives are still pretty large, and 15 shots a roll is a nice balance between size and convenience. I'm not going to get rid of the P67, I just don't shoot it near as much as the ETRSi. But if a GS-1 were to appear for a good price at a time that I happen to have money burning a hole in my pocket, I might jump.

I considered the R767 because it's a little more modern...but then decided on the RB Pro SD because it's more modern without being TOO modern. That's a stupid thing to think, but that's how cameras are, I guess, haha.

Also, the RZ is way more expensive (and the 7ii even more so), so I'l take my 6x7 system big and beefy.

This will also probably be the last gear I buy for...the rest of this year, at least. Seems like I buy something every year when I don't really need to. Time and money to spend on actually taking pictures, which is the most important part.

Oh, speaking of, here's a video I made about just that:

Nice, that is a visual B&W feast. Did you use a filter? The sky looks nicely controlled.

That's Cinestill for ya. I wouldn't say all of those photos are all that good, but they fit what I was trying to do, anyways. A few of them are among my best, though.

I don't know, the ancient Greeks were pretty hard on their racers...
Pheidippides - Wikipedia

Maybe he'd have been OK if he hadn't been lugging a RB67 the whole 40km

Definitely!

Interesting story, by the way. I knew the story of Marathon, of course, but nothing else about the guy. Now why would one run from Athens to Sparta (240 km)? Surely a horse can run faster...
