More springtime action. I sure do hate how using the small forum posting option and the general forum compression makes every picture look suboptimal. It should be MY fault the picture is suboptimal!

You should not be seeing any forum-based compression when linking to off-site hosting at Flickr. What I am seeing in my browser is identical to the same size at Flickr. Am I not understanding?

That being said, the "modern" skins for look/feel may result in the browser showing a poorly compressed smaller version than what you linked to. If using one of the modern skins, try a "classic" skin to see the difference.

Not seeing any difference from the same pic on flickr. Have you changed the max viewing dimensions in forum preferences?

Not at all. I'm guessing a fairly large neg (relative to 35mm) anyway.
