I just realized those are vehicles in the middle distance. Wow.
In the old John Ford westerns, the cars would have been replaced with a wagon train or a stage coach. I have photos from the same location taken about seven years later and remember being told that it was the same vista used for so many of his movies. Yes, the bad guys are just around that rock!

If I remember correctly the only way you could get around was via a jeep driven by a Navajo guide. Ours broke down a couple kilometres from the end and my wife and I left the guide with his jeep and walked back to the entrance. Was pretty hot already in May and we were thirsty by the time we got back to say the least.

Because the thread is all about film shots, and anything goes... It's not for competition, nor critique, but purely for fun and enjoyment. You'll find many such threads in our friendly community. I recommend you simply disregard any photos that aren't to your tastes

Welcome to the forum.
This thread has been going on for over 10 years, and has never been about passing judgement on what people post. If it was shot on film then it is welcome here. You are welcome here as well, but please keep your comments kind and positive.

Welcome to the Pentax Forums!

They posted for the same reason you commented.

As noted above, this thread is for sharing our work and sometimes that work might be unconventional. Another cool thing about this thread is that it is not limited to photos taken with Pentax gear. The only requirement is that it be a film capture.

We have a lot of fun here in the film section of the site and are looking forward to seeing your work too!

Everyone has different ways of going about things, but I'd have personally started with "hello".
Hello.
