That's a lovely image with a great 3D feel to it. How do you find the feel of the 43mm focusing manually on the LX?

Thanks Jonathan!

I’m not the biggest fan to be honest. You can definitely hear some parts grind when you’re moving it around. Not a smooth experience by far. The focus ring is a bit small as well for my liking. It does feature a texture that’s easy to find when reaching for the lens with the eye at the viewfinder. Being an autofocus lens you have the added downside that you can’t just turn the lens to infinity by relying on the hard stop. You actually have to verify through the viewfinder to see that everything lines up.

On the other side, I do consider the shorter focus throw an advantage to the Pentax SMC 55mm f/1.8 I was used to. It’s quite a bit easier to get the kids in focus while being more than precise enough for critical work. That, combined with the slightly wider FOV than a standard 50 and Limited “pixie dust” as some call it, has nonetheless made it stay on my LX for about 75% of the time since I’ve had it.

A seaside photo of our port , at noon. A little bit tricky to the shadows, I suppose. It turned out nice though.

My FA 77/1.8 Limited has a similar feel/sound. One can hear one of the gears meshing.

My FA100 f3.5 makes a terrible grinding noise, but only when on a rear cap. It's the autofocus prawl moving on the plastic.
I don't use it much on MF bodies, but I suppose it would make some noise there, too...

So it may not be anything gear-related, specifically, or any indication that things are wearing out...

Yeah, grinding might not be the correct description. But you can definitely hear the gears going around. Even when not attached to a body or cap.
