I am not surprised though, I have done a few digital tests (same subject, same camera, same settings,same light but different lenses) and the difference between even nominally similar lenses (say a bunch of 50mm f1.8 or thereabouts) can be quite marked in terms of colour rendition and control of highlights. The difference between a simple prime like the Minolta and a complex zoom like the Pentax I would guess would be even greater.
The bottom is the Minolta, but I don't know how much is the change in the light and how much is the lens.
That's part of what's amazing to me.
On the one hand, the Minolta is a well-regarded fast prime.
The Pentax is a cheap kit lens that's just 30 or so years newer...
And both of them are pretty good... I mean, I don't look at either and think they're lacking terribly in things that could be easily solved by the equipment...
