I wish I'd framed this shot with a little less sky (maybe there was a good reason for it, I don't remember), but I still quite like it...

Pencil Pine and Fagus | Lake Rodway Track

Both of these species are found only in the Tasmanian highlands. Pencil Pines can grow to well over 1000 years old, while Fagus is Australia's only native winter deciduous.

@nickthetasmaniac- do you happen to know the scientific/latin name of the Fagus? I'm a UK based arboriculturalist, and Fagus species over here refer to beech trees, which have the genus epithet of 'Fagus'. Just curious

Nothofagus, this species being N. gunnii Named in reference to the Fagus of the northern hemisphere but completely unrelated.

Nothofagus is a Gondwanan genus and today it can be found across south eastern Australia, Patagonia, New Zealand and so on. They’ve also found lead and pollen fossil records in Antarctica.

Melbourne, Australia street art festival, taken in 2009: (KX & K50/1.4)

This shot is using the old Ektachrome 100VS. (It's the one with over the top colours, or as Kodak called it "vivid saturation" )

Ahh, I'm familiar with Nothofagus species, only seen N.obliqua and N.antartica in UK, they get commonly grouped as Southern beeches Cheers for clarification, and don't be shy to post other shots you have of them- always keen for a good tree shot, especially when out of the UK.
