I have been spending some time with the new scanner and decided to share my first slide scan.

Taken on the NW side of Mt. Adams in Washington state, USA. August 1991

Ricoh XR7 Tamron 28/2.5 (02B), Kodachrome 64

I am pretty impressed with the results.

Steve
Been down here 6 months now and the mountains are the one thing I miss in Washington... I got cold looking at that.

Steve, this is really nice. It looks like medium format to my eyes
The scan quality or the photo?

I am really happy with the scan quality so far. There is still much to learn, but I think the Coolscan 5000 is a winner.

As for the photo...Big mountain, great lens, great location. How can you lose? The photo was taken from the spine of a knife-edge ridge about two-thirds up the mountain. A misstep would have meant a 300' fall. Conditions were superb for climbing and I was in great shape. It was a good day...

I have a few myself. I took my son to watch Star Trek yesterday (which is awesome!) and took my me super with with me. Anyway I have that agfa film I am trying to get rid of really, so I have the bright idea of trying to take photos of the movie. These where the best of the bunch. All hand held with my tokina 28 @ f/2.8 and all I know is that the lights inside the view finder where yellow. Not good.

Opened another old box of slides

I am really going to have fun with this new scanner. Here is the first slide off the top of a box that I thought I had lost in my last move. I wondered what happened to these!

Yosemite Falls, Memorial Day 2001

Ricoh XR7 Tamron 28/2.5 (02B), Fujichrome 100

Luc,
This is a brilliant capture in every way. I liked the way you tried two different compositions, but this one in my eyes is splendid. That Heron really adds brilliance to this image..

From today. ME SUPER, M40, FUJI asa 800 film. This film seems way to grainy for me. So far as far as 800 films go, it is hard to beat the Kodak Ultra Max 800.

Thanks Javier. I have been moving around trying to get a better angle for the background but I needed a ladder to do any better so I settle for this.
