nesster, you are right. I'm seriously regretting having sold my 6x7. But I'm not missing the time in the darkroom.
Jake, it's been a little while since I've shot film or in the dark this way but a little suggestion with a static subject. Get one of those large 4 D cell "policeman batton" flashlights that you can focus the beam. Use that to illuminate your subject (like the chair) as a focusing aid. I used to do that all the time and it worked great for me.
I gotta say I've come back to those shots a couple of times today and that Lighthouse shot is one of the best images B&W I've seen in a long time.
