Since we're posting ridiculous prices for old Pentax items today, how about this?

Pentax LX 2000 Limited as originally shipped, including outer box - $4,499

Another LX 2000 Limited - $5,500

That is a beautiful package but those are absurd prices monochrome. I guess it is kind of like real estate - you can ask anything you want and it is worth whatever someone is willing to pay. We had better get our orders in fast. Those suckers won't last long at these rates.

Those are seriously ridiculous prices! Though I'm thinking some oil baron will pick those up.

The LX2000 was a very expensive limited release aimed at collectors.
That 330,000 Japanese Yen MSRP seen on the Pentax tag was/is more than $3000 US Dollars.

Chris: Not questioning the collectible value of the camera - I think there were only 3000 made - but I'm still awed that people pay money to put things on shelves.

The guy who does Pentax-Manuals.com bought one for $2500 in 2005. I sent him a Spotmatic manual to scan and we corresponded for a while.

What else would people do with all the money they have? There's only so much a man needs to buy.

If I had a lot of money I would totally buy this and USE it on a daily basis.

Shelf Queens

I'd really like to get the improved grip - it's larger and has an additional neckstrap lug,
to replace the one used by the grip. This allows a neckstrap to be attached in the normal position.

No doubt few LX2000s were ever used. Short of buying a complete outfit (which I would never do)
I hold little hope that I'll ever find the grip...

*quivers at the awesome awesomeness of the LX2000*

Can't you knock up a suitable grip yourself, Chris?

To clarify the Pentax LX has a unique lug that will only accept the Pentax LX neckstrap or Pentax grip.
Mounting the grip uses the upper lug on the rewind side, making it impossible to attach the strap there.
Pentax addressed this complaint by adding an additional lug to the LX2000 grip. (See OP's photo.)

I wouldn't sweat it - you are not missing much. A couple of years ago KEH must have obtained some of these (at the time I was looking for a B grip - KEH didn't have any - then one day they had about a half dozen grips NIB for about $50) and I bought one. The plastic of the new grips definately felt cheaper than the older ones. The Lug on the side of the grip, while a nice idea, really tended to get in the way when shooting.
