Got my MX, happytime!

Hello!

I've been dilling about which camera to match with my M40 Pancake for quite some time now. First of all i got a Program A in quite good shape, but in all my haste I sold that one, while I was being sure to win a Super A on an auction, which I screwed up ;-) Another one wanted it very bad and bidded about $30 over me in the last few seconds. They seems to be quite expensive on eBay too.

Later on I bought a ME (like new) from an old friend for about 10 buck. I found out that just Av-mode aint that fun to use, and also no depth-of-field-preview. I sold it as fast as I could for the same price.

Short after that I got myself a ME Super, which I made a quite good relationship with ;-) It was in a really good shape (on the outside). Later on I found out that the mirror was all scratchy, and also locked itself after exposure sometimes. too bad for such a nice camera. (a minus for no depth-of-field-preview)

And now, at last, I got a MX, as good as new(except for scratches on the bottom) for about $60, which I fell in love with instantly. Such a wonderful mechanical thing. I just love the way you can se the chosen aperture at the small mirror on the top of the viewfinder, and that you select shutterspeed on a wheel instead of a small button, like it was on the ME Super and Program A. It also got a depth-of-field-preview (which I had to look up in a manual how to use, hehe). Happy-Happy, Joy-Joy!
The light-meter-indicator seems quite nice too.
The only minus is that the fastest shutter-speed is 1/1000s.

Since it's so small it will probably follow wherever I go, almost. BW film photography, here I come.

...now I just have to get a film processing set.

(I still want the Super Program though!)

Yup, that's true :P
Which make them really handy, and easy to bring wherever you go.
They really havea solid feeling too.

I have two ME Supers and a Super Program. I ought to sell one of the ME Supers I guess. I have them on my bookshelves in my office. Classic film bodies and lenses make a nice touch in decorating an office, and I keep them loaded so I get the periodic shot with them.

Congrats on the MX! $60 is a bargain for such a clean MX even for now.

I got MX, SuperProgram and ME Super SE besides the MZ-S, all are great little camera. For now I love the ME Super SE the best due to its big 45 degree split screen. My suggestion is to change the mirror bumper foam and light seal if they haven't been changed yet. It can be easily done by yourself.

Enjoy the new MX and good luck finding a good oondition SuperProgram

A complaint you can hear about the M series of cameras is that they were too small.

Interesting read. I’ve been contemplating too, the different manual focus models; ME, Me-super, Super A, etc.
I prefer shutterspeed wheel, instead of bottoms. And I see that you write that this would be on the MX. I do like Av though.
I don’t know if 1/1000sec. shuttertime would be a problem.

Those M-model cams go great with the original 40 mm pancake. I actually am not too inclined towards the LX, it is too massive. Then I might as well bring along a DSLR instead.
