eBay Darkroom Setup?

Okay, so I'm wanting to get into developing my own film but I don't have room in my house to set anything up a permanent darkroom. Well I was perusing eekBay tonight and ran across this great little portable setup. What do you think?

I hope you don't mind, but I snatched it up...

Nah. My wife would kill me.

I think it's awesome. Are you seriously considering it?

If I lived in PA or nearby ... but no.

a) the wife would KILL me if I put an olive drab metal box in the back yard - likely by putting padlocks on the hatches whilst I was inside...
b) I can't even imagine what the trucking fee would be to ship that bad boy 1500 miles to Oklahoma.
c) See "a".

Pretty damn cool though regardless.

I'm enlisting tomorrow. Us men make the best TOYS!!!

But why not just throw 4 wheels and a lawnmower engine on it and DRIVE it home?

Haha. That's brilliant.

I'd... Probably actually buy that... would certainly solve my problems here.

If one wanted to seriously consider doing a backyard setup, you could get yourself an inexpensive aluminum shed and retrofit it. The whole thing is the environment:

I would think that here in South Florida, our heat and humidity would screw up a lot of things, not to MENTION wreaking havoc with chemicals. If it wasn't cooled 24/7, it would get up to 125 degrees in there.

And for northern climates, the freezing temperatures sure wouldn't help.

Well, I don't know, Ira, probably wouldn't be inclined to put it directly in the sun, no, for efficiency's sake. I suppose there, I'd be tempted to shade it with some solar panels, maybe let those run the cooling a certain amount of the day. The thing's probably meant for some pretty extreme conditions, being military.

I can picture some amusing recruiting commercials featuring Army darkroom techs, as they slide the thing out of an aircraft,
