Unfortunately, even with fresh batteries, the light meter doesn't want to work.
Perfect excuse to get a handheld light meter! Which will then open up to you, the wonderfull world of shooting with the pre-Spotmatic Pentaxes;
K S3 SV ...

I like the Gossen Luna Pro F light meter, which has incedent and reflective metering.
I got mine used for $125 USD. Takes a plain ol' 9 volt battery.

Thanks for this info, Moe. I have an SV & H2 that I hope to start using eventually. I'm not sure I trust my "sunny 16" skills just yet! I like the fact these meters use regular 9v batteries & KEH has them at decent prices.

There is a wonderful freedom and at the same time, a challenge, using 'sunny 16'. Once you set your speed to the ASA (ISO), then it's f16 in bright open sun. In solid open shade it's f4. The challenge is gauging the intermediate, with a bias towards the central subject. It's worth a try, and you can practice against a light meter.

My MV / Industar 50-2 combo - no bigger (only slightly heavier) than my Dad's Olympus trip as a pocket 35mm.

Not a Pentax, but I just ordered some Ektar and Reala to run through this camera as soon as I finish up school soon. It's my motivation and reward to keep moving and I can't wait to be done.

I was very, very close to getting a Mamiya 645 last year, with the 80mm f/1.9 no less, but ended up with the Pentax 645 instead. I love the Pentax but I can't help but dream about what using a medium format f/1.9 lens must be like...

I recently picked up an H2 (front), and an SV from a forum member (thanks, sergysergy!). The H2 is now in Eric's hands, getting a CLA & shutter curtain repair. The SV needs a bit more work & will have to wait it's turn...

The f/1.9 sure is nice. But there are advantage to having the Pentax, such as a 645 to K adapter.

I've had this Mamiya for almost a couple years now, so I'm feeling bad it's been neglected. My parents purchased it brand new a long time ago so it's in perfect condition.

You will love the H2, just remember it was not made for the Super Tac to work in auto. I too have a SV sent to Eric I am waiting for (will be my third operating SV). Shutter curtains do fail after 55 years. If you can fix your SV, it will delight you, as other than a light meter missing, it will do everything you wish. Of course that means you have to know what to tell it.

Of all the SLR's I have owned - and the ones I've kept are showing in my sig - the SV gives me the most delight to actually use.

The Pentax "K" has arrived. I paid a pretty penny for it too. However, it has been serviced by Eric, and is in lovely condition all round.
