It may still be worth buying the immaculate one as a source of body panels. If you see a functional one with a huge scratch in the prism housing later on then you'll have the parts to repair it.

I remember sometimes ago somebody asked me for a pair of shots of the entire K collection, and here finally all the five Kings are together, on an interesting brochure of that era (that doesnąt include the K2DMD tough):

Nice set. I owned 4 of those at one point. Never had a K2 DMD though.
The K2 is my favorite so far.

Well done, like the "Kings" in the first shot!

Since you like the four kings and the jolly I add another picture that I found redundant:

The brochure is from 1976 and it's interesting, it clearly states the K1000 comes with the K55mm f2.0, while all the other Ks sport the 50 mm f1.2.

Also on the sleeve is written "discount" on all the models besides the K1000, that I assume was dirty cheap them adn couldn't discount, it mentions the "S" system and shows the difference between the four models, it also appears that the K1000 was introduced with all the other three, while the DMD is not mentioned, although the K2 is described as a "pro" model with a lot of explanations on the Seiko shutter and the metering system of both K2 and KX, perhaps I should scan it and make it public.

Very nice...That K2DMD looks immaculate. (They all do) I'm green eyed. That must have taken some time to acquire.

I have a couple similar K Series camera brochures/booklets. I have one from 1975 with just the original “K Series” K2/KX/KM listed and one from 1976 after the K1000 was released. The K2DMD came out later that year.

By all means post a scan if you can, that would be good reading for us!

Thanks, Phil.

Very nice. I have a K2 sitting in a cupboard in my parents' house. I'll be back there in a few weeks and I need to decide whether or not I spend the £100 or so it will cost to get it CLA'ed and working again. Add in the €85 I spent on the camera and it would easily be the most expensive 135 format camera I have.

Greetings from the Philippines!

Currently using a KM mounted with a Helios 44-2.

Previous to this I was using a K1000 mounted with an SMCP M 50mm F1.7 which I sent over to my brother in New York City. From Jan. 2012 to Nov. 2013, I mainly used a K-r body and a variety of film era and digital era lenses.

Good to be connected to other Pentaxians who are film body users. Cheers!

This Electro Spotmatic found me a few weeks ago.

I will preserve it in this condition, store it carefully, and not take it out and make it a "used" camera.
I am impressed!! Where did this surface? Wow!! I also have a nice Electro Spotmatic that Works just fine, but not with box and all.

Is the case brown og black?

The Electro Spotmatic was physically in Japan and appeared on USA eBay with a very reasonable BIN price comparable with some used ones I have seen for sale in worse condition without the whole kit (box, lens, manuals, case, etc.). I was looking to buy a 1st generation Electro Spotmatic, so no brainer, 'click'.

The camera case is brown. It is the only 'brown' soft leather case I have ever seen.
edit 1/29/'15: I ran across another 'brown' soft leather case for sale, and snapped it up post-haste. That makes two that I have seen to date.

Thank You for noticing and asking.

What's wrong with the camera? Does it really need a complete CLA to work?

I usually prefer the Helios 44K-4, I can use it wide open and it's multicoated:

I consider it a better lens than the M50 f2.0 and 1.7, and with different characteristics in comparison to the K55mm f2.0 and 1.8.

The internal mechanism is jammed in a way that causes the shutter to fire when winding the film on. It's a known fault with the K2 and requires everything being stripped, cleaned and re-lubricated in order to fix it.

Yes, the 44-2 does have flare issues. At the time of acquisition, I didn't know that the 44-2 isn't multi-coated. Thank you for the info on the 44K-4, Cuthbert.

IMO the main advantage of the 44K over the 44-2 is that the former is already available in K mount, the last Soviet cameras (Almaz, Zenit Automat...) were all Pentax K because our favourite brand offered the mount as open to all the market, so you can get good Soviet glass for our cameras without adapter and you don't have to step down for metering.

Kiev Arsenal also made good cameras in Nikon mount so for instance you can use lenses like the Helios 81 and Granit on your FM, F2 etc...but they are relatively few lenses.
