About the grip on your 67, is that something that you cobbled together, or did you buy it somewhere? I like the looks of it, and it seems to me that it might be a bit more practical to use than the outrigger that is the stock Pentax version.

I actually don't care for the pentax handle-grip.... this is far better to me personally. It genuinely does make a huge difference as well. I now find hand-holding it to be genuinely pleasurable!

It's made by Mark Kasper in the Twin Cities area and he sells them on Ebay for around 40-60 USD depending on the wood/finish. There are two styles as well - this one I have, and another that is slimmer and is just straight from top to bottom (e.g. it doesn't have the added carve at the top).

I'll try and locate a listing of his and post here.

Here go... these are both his auctions.

Thanks, Kevin. You know, I'm pretty handy at carving wood. And I have a pretty good stash of hardwoods also. Padauk, Indian Rosewood, Cherry, Mahogany, and more. I could probably make my own if I could figure out a good way of attaching it. Does Mark design his so that it mounts to a strap lug?

You should make a wooden grip for my LX.

Ricoh: Honorary Pentax SLR since 2011.

Actually, the announcement of Ricoh's purchase was reported at dpreview on July 1 of that year... we're coming up on the 5th Ricohversary this year! Ricoh buys Pentax to build interchangeable lens camera business: Digital Photography Review

I used to have a Ricoh XR-P. I now have a Ricoh KR-5. Since they have had Pentax K-mounts forever, I think they have been legit even before 2011....

Super Program

The first and last film camera I used was a manual slr in my late teens. So it's pretty cool to load some film first time in 10 years! Just got this body-only, need to see how photos will turn out and if anything needs to be fixed / calibrated, but it seems to work fine.

Anyone knows when was the super program discontinued? I only know it was launched in 83. Or how to establish the date of manufacture using the serial number?

They had the M42 mount before that!

Got any film-era lenses for it? If not, you can try any of the DA lenses that cover the full frame and use the shutter speed controls to manipulate the aperture. I've used the DA40 (Limited) and DA50 without problems, and if there was any vignetting from the DA70 in the pics I took, I had a hard time finding it.

I have manual lenses, that's my standard 50 in the photo and I have two other M tele lenses.

But you are right, it works with DA lenses in P or Tv, that's one thing I really liked about this model vs older ones.

When I got the k3ii, I used to think it was pretty cool (but not that useful, since I had no old glass) that 40 years old lenses work right away with no adapter. But being able to use lenses 30 years newer than the camera seems even more impressive to me, especially given the many tech advances that happened in this time!

Hrm . . . well, since I own an LX now, I guess this is something I should check into. I wouldn't mind owning a wooden grip for my LX, also.
