Hi All --- I don't think I told you the story of how I got my 'First Asahi Pentax--- the S3 in 1961 -- I did a Video about it and how I 'renovated it' -- you can see it here :

I was intrigued too, because I'd never heard of it and it's rare enough that it doesn't yet appear in the third party lens reviews section. I've got some info together and need to request it be added. So for €25 I decided to give it a go, though when it arrived I almost sent it straight back as it has some detritus inside, not sure if it's dust or small spots of fungus. I've given it a go on the K3 and it's not the sharpest lens, even stopped down to f/8, though the centre is considerably sharper than the borders (on APS-C). Colours and contrast are nice enough, it's just lacking in resolution. Still, I bought it mostly for use on my film cameras where sharpness is less important than on digital so I'm not going to let my initial results put me off. It's very well built (especially for a third party AF lens from the film days), a convenient focal range on film and not too slow at the tele end.

I have a few sample shots on the K3 in my Flickr, though haven't created an album for it as I'm not certain it'll be sticking around.

Best ones I've found were properly dressed as well!
Hope it works as good as it looks!

Film in it just now so we'll know soon. Meter seems fine and speeds at least sound OK (I know that doesn't mean a lot).

Nice! How much? That lens by itself is worth about £100 in good condition. I read lots of stories about people picking up amazing cameras in charity shops for a fiver, but I have never had any luck. I sent my MX to Harrow technical UK for a full service.

As far as I know, the LX has the most comprehensive list of viewfinders available in all of camera history . . .

I'm still missing the FA-1W which is the same as the FA-1 except with a wider diopter adjustment.

Nice! I love it when good deals, good owners, and great cameras coincide.

There was even a finder for undewater use, it is like the action finder but larger. Not made by Pentax but anyhow.
