Welcome J

My foray back into film started on a whim. I was cleaning up my old K1000 which developed a light leak in 2006 and got this bright idea to get one for parts on ebay or something. After a few minutes I realized I could get a nice functioning K1000 for 30 bucks. Then the insanity began as I started to think. I love love my new K7 but there has been something missing from my experience. Something that I wanted back, and I realized as I was purchasing the K1000 that it was film that was missing.
Within moments I realized I wanted to shoot film again and I wanted to develop my own black and whites. I had a little money to burn so I ran to one of the last camera shops still standing in town and bought the chemicals reels and several rolls of film. Back at the computer I accidentally bought a ME Super. So fast forward - ME Super came - I loaded a roll and shot it and quickly started developing and it was fun as hell. In the week or so after that I bought a back ME Super a Super A and a back up Super A and now my wife wants to kill me and I am done. I just got a little out of control. The cool part is all my lenses work on my cameras so I look at it as a win. Now back to developing, I was rusty and relearning how with the new chemicals out there but can I just say, my fun level with photography is way back up there like when I was 13 and I got my K1000. I am having a blast....
Nice post. Glad your "back".

Here is my SP1000 with its covey of normal lenses: Super-Takumar 55/2, Meyer-Optik Oreston 50/1.8, Auto Rikenon 50/2, Fujinon 50/ 2.2. Not pictured is another S-T 55/2 that I bought knowing the aperture ring was stiff. Any pointers? It appears an impact gashed the ring, leasving an aluminum spur in there somewhere that makes dialing up small apertures tough. Other than that, it works just fine ...

The 35mm Crew

Taken with the K10D. The Pentax film crew is rounded out by a 645, and the rest of the film cameras includes a Zeiss Ikon Ikoflex IIa (Late), a Yashica Electro 35 GS, and an Agfa Cadet box camera.

The MX is the latest addition. It came with the Soligor 28-80 attached for $30 including shipping on FleaBay. I think it will be off to Eric soon for a CLA. Everything appears to be in working order except the meter is flaky and appears to overexpose by about a stop.

I am starting to feel a little inferior compared to the rest of the Portland area group. Pete has an SV and an Electro 35. IS050 has an SV and an Electro 35. I have neither...

Steve

(I do have a 1000 DTL and a Singlex TLS and a couple of Lynxes though...)

I don’t live in portland nor have any yashica, but the SV is really just about the best screwmount body you can have, if you can cope with no meter. it has a certain elegance, but more understated that earlier Asahi Optical cameras. a joy to use.

Yep, I agree fully regarding the SV. I have taken two turns with the "Sightseeing Screwmount" and truly love shooting with that camera. Coping without a meter is not that huge an issues once a person figures out that the light really doesn't change that much from minute to minute.

Ah, small correction, I have the Spotmatic but not the SV.
And you have the Lynx 5000 that I coveted!!

Simplicity at its best. The S1a purchased here on PF from a fellow member.

The venerable K1000 with the Zenitar (imo one of the best lenses around for film and digital)

Both of these suckers are getting me back into shooting film.

Eric did a fine job for me on my SP1000.
I also love the simple elegance of the early Pentax SLRs. My SP comes close, with its lack of self-timer.
Makes me wonder what a rangefinder produced by Pentax would have looked like ...

my two screw mount babies until I get an AP and an Asahiflex of course! not all my screwmount equipment by a long shot, just my favourites. I’m going to brass that black SP up nicely.

from left to right: Asahi Pentax SV (late model) & Auto-Takumar f2.3 35mm, Auto-Takumar f2 55mm (my workhorse lens), Fish-Eye-Takumar f11 18mm, Asahi Pentax Spotmatic (late model) & Auto-Takumar f2.8 105mm (model II)

Seamuis - Thanks, it's turning out to be one of my favorite cameras.

Steve - Worry not, the SV and the Electro 35 were both had for under $30 each. You just have to keep your eye out!
