The latest addition to my “K” series film body collection.

It arrived from Austria before the “ash cloud” struck.
Nice looking camera Phil. I know you were a big time KX fan but a few rolls with this unit will win you over. That ASA ring "problem" is a crock. Every camera I have ever picked up had some issues initially. Familiarity always takes care of them. Have fun buddy.

i second this. its not an issue after all. you will forget about it after a while. its not like we gonna change the ASA setting in the middle of shooting right. like digital do.
right?

Just a quick shot on a sunday morning...
These LX's, and the hand full of lenses, have served me very, very, well! For years I they helped me earning a living, thank you Pentax!
I never realized they were so dusty, shame on me...

FWIW, at least on mine (which has been CLA'ed by Eric) the secret is to use a thumbnail under a ridge on the ring while gently pressing the button with the other hand.

Thanks Tom. Yes I agree about the K2 ASA ring, it’s no issue at all now. It was a bit of a shock to use after I got my first K2 a year ago, as I was so used to the KX after all that time. It also didn’t help that my first K2 had a stuck ASA ring. Eric fixed it and all is well.

I also collect Pentax brochures and instruction manuals. I found this one page addition to the K2 Manual on how to set the ASA film speed.

I guess Penatx figured it needed clarifying and made it an amendment to the manual. (The back is in Japanese.)

I own Pentax K2 and K2DMD cameras. Both have been serviced.
The film speed/exposure compensation ring is poorly designed
and at minimum difficult to adjust even when working properly.
It was this models Achilles Heel, and Pentax never used it again.

Impressive collection.

I've got a few good Pentax film cameras and lenses, but they never made a penny for me

I got the working Asahiflex IIB (late version) and 58mm f2.4 a few months back and haven't officially posted it in this thread. Here it is next to its inspiration. It has m37 mount while the Praktiflex has the m42 adopted by Pentax for the last run of the Asahiflex and the 'AP' in 1957. The Asahiflex featured the instant return mirror.

The is the next ancestral match that I've had longer:

What lens is on the Praktiflex? That looks interesting. M42 mount, you say?
